I've been riding a scooter round London for the past year and decided to get my DAS done before the big change. I managed to find a great guy in Chesterfield who does one to one training and I have friends close by so booked my test through him. In total I did 4 hours training, another half hour before the test, and passed with just two minors.......total cost including test fee was £260. I'd already done my theory seperately.

To all those cynics out there who mocked my insistance that I didn't need a full three or four day course....booya to you all!

If anyone wants contact detals for the chap in Chesterfield then let me know, I can't recommend him highly enough...although your chances of getting a test date before the change over are slim.

I think I'll stick with my scooter for another year until it is fully paid off and then I'll look at getting myself a year 2000 VFR 800 or perhaps a Monster S4.....or maybe a 696 if I can get one on decent finance.

No point to this post other than praising myself really but to anyone who is considering getting their bike licence, do it!

I doubt that was in this forum ???

Congrats on the pass though biggrin

Sell the scooter and buy a real bike then you can truly justify that booya!

There really is no justification, I'm afraid.

Appologies for the 'booya'.....upon reading it back I realise I look like a right tit....I assure you I am not.

I think the scooter will stay for the timebeing as the insurance on a prper bike would be horrific given what I'm paying on my scooter, so another year of no claims should help. Also, for my commute the scooter is almost certainly faster than any bike. I am trying to organise the ability to borrow/hire a selection of bikes for when I want to do some longer trips so should have the best of both worlds.

Cheers everyone.
