My bf and I parked his CB250 at the train station today and when we came back a few hours later his fuel line was broken. It looked like a clean cut. Could this happen naturally through wear (bear in mind he has just had a service and MOT 2 weeks ago) or must it have been cut? Need to know as may need to report to police.

Sounds like its been cut - possibley to nab your fuel. Especially when its been left in such a public place. I'd report it to BiB as a criminal damage TBH. (Or potentially a theft as well if your fuels been pinched)

Tank want completely drained by the time we got there but there was a ring left on the tarmac and looks like it has leaked out... Sorry what is BiB?

BiB = Boys in Blue = Plod.

depends on the type of hose to be honest, some will just spilt all the way as soon as they are damaged. others just get a hole. fuel theft sounds likely though, i thought it'd gone down a bit along with fuel prices though.
any other damage to the bike? could be try tried to nick it & when they failed decided if they cant ride it away you cant either.

No other damage that I could see.

Has been reported to plods.

I want to cry I am so mad. Why would someone do this for 10 litres of petrol!?

How much will fuel line cost to replace? And can bf do it himself? All he has done on his own bike so far is replace clutch and brake lever. Is it as easy as that!?

It'll be a simple case of following each end of the fuel line and disconnecting.

Depending on the types of clips that are holding the fuel line in place (some are crimped and can't be re used) you'll have to buy a couple of small jubilee clips.

If you can't get to a bike shop a any car shop should have a piece of fuel line and the necessary clips.

Someone on another forum has suggested the vandals may have cut the line in the hope we'd have to leave the bike there overnight so they could come and nick it!!! Waaah! My bf was well tired and sweaty but I'd say certainly it was worth pushing it back home

Bloody pain in the arse! On a positive note, it is literally a 5 minute repair job on a naked bike like that!

looks to me that theres enough pipe there to just refit it again as the cut bit is very short(which also says to me it was just cut to drain the fuel)
