If you could only have one engine, what would it be and why?

I would go for a v twin. Inline 4's are generally quite dull.
106 in first on my r1 is incredibly dull. Give me a V or L Twin any day ........

Thing is, I genuinely WOULD find that pretty dull. Good fun once or twice but I like to wring the neck of a bike and make it work. I don't want to use less than 50% of the capability of a bike that is so far above what's advisable on the road and/or my capabilities.Interestingly, 106 MPH is exactly the top speed of my bike

Each to their own though!

Never ridden a V-4, how does the power curve differ from an inline engine?
Only ridden a VFR750 but it has power pretty much anywhere. It'll pull from 3000rpm and just pulls harder after 7000 till the redline.V4 would probably be my choice although only because I haven't ridden many engine types.

1000cc IL4 in a superbike.
Why?
My opinion:
V-twin... feel and sound like tractors
Triple... all the disadvantages of a v-twin and all the disadvantages of an IL4. i.e. Not as torquey as a v-twin, yet doesn't rev like an IL4!
That's just what I've ridden and my own opinion... not tried a V4 yet.![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
