Cant seem to sell the bike.....
Discussion
Selling my 2005 ninja. Been up for the past 2 weeks. Had it on ebay, gumtree and pistonheads.
Only contact i've had are scams and people wanting it for nothing...
Ive got it up for a reasonable (IMO) price, £2800. Others are priced £2800-£3200... I had it on ebay for a 'buy it now' and had 28 watchers and no one contacted me. Theres a detailed descrition and pics....
Dunno what to do. Other than the obv of reducing the price... Any suggestions...

People don't like buy it nows, try an auction or make offer with a slightly inflated initial price
Not the best time to sell tbh
yeah will have a go at auction. i can just envisage people bidding without viewing. listing ends. no contact from them. then have to fanny about getting my fees back and relisting...Not the best time to sell tbh
and yeah i know its not the best time. ive been saying om getting rid for the past 6 or so months but really enjoy the bike so have stuggled to part with it (gaaaaay i know)

I've tried to sell my Street Triple off and on over the years and have had no luck. It's nearly 6 years old now and if it wasn't for rip off insurance, I CAN ONLY DRIVE ONE CAR OR BIKE AT A TIME!!!!!!!, I'd just buy another bike and keep it.
yeah i have 2 bikes. this and a fazer. the stty weather in this country means that ive only been on a handful of 'proper rides' this year so cant justify the extortinate insurance. other than that all im doing is commuting 6 miles in a straight line down a 40mph dual carriage way which is just racking up the miles and wear/tear.mike-r said:
Maybe your ad is terrible?
I won't contact a buyer if any info is missing or even for trivial stuff like having pictures of half the bike.
its in the classifieds if you want to cast a (constructive) critical eye on it. blue 636 £2800, have a nosey...I won't contact a buyer if any info is missing or even for trivial stuff like having pictures of half the bike.

i've had 2 bikes before. one nice, one not. sold the nice one and instantly regretted it when left with the not so nice one.
then spent lots more filling that gap.
in terms of insurance. i just got a crack deal on covering 3 bikes. hastings only cover 2 on their "multi bike" so had to change companies.
principal insurance: £360 fully comp on a 2014 blade, 2007 600RR and 2008 bandit 1250. 16k miles across the 3 bikes. they even put my dad on as a named rider on the bandit. bit their arm off!
bloody ell. thats a good deal. most recent policy on the ninja cost me around £1000then spent lots more filling that gap.

No service history and not enough photos, not sure if it because I'm on mobile, but I any see any pics of tyres. Nice liking bike otherwise.
No service history, evidently makes it hard to sell in the future and will put most people off, considerably.
cheers. i'll get some better photos... i didnt think service history would have made that much of a difference (for me personally). with full service history id expect at min £3200 for it...No service history, evidently makes it hard to sell in the future and will put most people off, considerably.
and the reason it says 'no offers' is because of the bullst ive had to trawl through whilst selling other vehicles...
"al swop u a blackberry and a fish tank for it innit"
i just didnt want offers without coming to view 1st. so maybe reword it to refelct that eg: im open to reasonable offers in person...

'No offers' can be a big off-put to would be purchasers, I think.
I once did the same thing selling an 848 and there was just no interest. About a month after the advert went up, somebody got in touch to try making me a very reasonable offer, and said he'd seen the ad when it first went up, but wasn't interested in buying a bike without the possibility of a little bit of a haggle. Everyone likes to feel like they got a bargain!
i just commented about that without seeing ur post! but yeah i know what you meanI once did the same thing selling an 848 and there was just no interest. I know what you mean Pete but you have to make people feel like they're getting a good deal and buy it now no offers doesn't. You're better off setting it higher and justifying in the ad why it's worth that but you'll accept reasonable offers and you'll end up close to what you're after.
yeah cheers mate. i'm the 1st to admit im not the best salesman as i cant be arsed with the back and forth fannying about arguing over £100 so i just tried to be as blunt as possible....cheers for the replies i'll take em in to account and re-advertise

You say no service history, do you really mean no history, as in no receipts, paper work or anything, or just no stamps in the book.
The former would bother me, the later I couldn't care about so long as there is receipts for the parts fitted.
have receipts, MOT certificates etc... but yeah, no stamps in the bookThe former would bother me, the later I couldn't care about so long as there is receipts for the parts fitted.
been on hol for a week so havent got round to relisting it. some fella saw it on gumtree and emailed me. seemed promising, but then started messing about needing to bring his friend who couldnt come with him until 6 days later and could i ride it to somewhere to meet them etc. when i mentioned that wasnt possible it went a bit quiet at his end... so tonight its going up for auction on ebay... along with 2 other vehicles that need shifting
