Spontaneous ebay purchases
Discussion
I bought a 1998 VFR800 off ebay this lunchtime. Found it, rang the dealer for a quick chat. Bid while having lunch with 5 secs remaining. Won it!
35k miles with valves done at 24k. Baglux tank cover and givi rack. 12 months MOT. £1410
So. What bikes have you bought spontaneously? Late night bidding with a few beers? Any regrets?

drunken eBay/Amazon purchases
never been a bike but several things have turned up on Tuesdays and Wednesdays I don't remember ordering.
Amazon is the worst one - one click shopping should be banned whilst drunk, or at least should have a maths puzzle to solve.never been a bike but several things have turned up on Tuesdays and Wednesdays I don't remember ordering.
Ebay, not so bad. Purchased a Land Rover 300tdi once whilst drunk on a buy it now. Bid on a older zx6r track bike at a grand total of £800, and was winning, but the seller cancelled my bid and then cancelled the auction.
In the last few days i have been feeling that i need a Repsol CBR in my life currently... Will be deleting ebay off my phone at lunch.
Doug Stanhope has got a good bit in his Beer Hall Putch routine about drunk ebaying. Not remembering what you ordered for 5-7 business days, and random stuff turning up that revealed the anxieties he apparently has when drunk. Quite good stuff.
Well, the VFR continues to impress. It rides so well for a 17 yr old bike. Clutch slips a little when cold and under hard throttle/high revs, settles down a bit when warm. Other than that, the suspension is obviously a little wobbly, but perfectly ok for 8/10ths road riding.
I got a high-level can off ebay for less than £100, which makes it sound properly nice and look better than standard by revealing that lovely single-sided swingarm.
Got a replacement standard shaped clear screen on back-order. I hate the black double-bubble thing.
Tank range is good. It goes to reserve at 170-190 miles, even with some thrashing. Mostly down to 22 litre tank as actual MPG isn't wonderful at around 42-44 mpg so far.
One of the best bikes i've bought. If i'd spent a grand more on purchasing it i don't think i'd feel ripped off. Well pleased.
In fact, i'm enjoying it so much i haven't used my blade for a while. In fact it makes the blade look rather silly - too small, too fast, not as nice sounding, expensive, relatively fragile and requiring intimate cleaning after each ride because it's so new and i want to keep it that way, whereas the VFR i'm happy to give a quick going over once a week or so.
