I know a few of you chappies ride bikes and I am thinking of getting a 600 sports bike. In my list at the moment is a Kawasaki ZX-6R (currently top), an R6 or a GSXR. I have ridden downhill mountain bikes and motocross bikes but this will be my first real street bike (the main reason for not getting an R6). Of the three which one would you guys recommend? The 6R seems to have the whole package of being able to be ridden by a novice but being a screamer if you want it to be, be comfortable to commute on etc. Would I be right? If so I'm going to try and get a silver and black one

If any of you have any other suggestions I'm willing to listen. Cheers.

Well I've heard lots of reports about how the R6 is more track orientated. I didn't know that was true of the GSXR too. I think I may go with the 599cc ZX6-R, I much prefer it to the CBR. I like the way they look too, and the six pot brakes are pretty trick (my mountain bike has 4 pots so I have to go one step up ). They seems pretty comfortable too.

Iguana, I sort of understand what you are saying and appreciate the love you show looking out for me an' all, but I need a sports bike. I'm not stupid, I always ride/drive whatever I am at the helm of within my limits. Maybe for a while I won't get it's full potential, but I'll be learning

I'm still up for advice though and any more help is greatly appreciated, cheers chaps.

Any more info from the chap with the 599cc ZX6? Running costs etc. Sorry I've forgot your name matey but I forgot to quote.

Thanks for your help chappies. I'm gonna go for the 599cc ZX-6R I think. I will probably look for a silver and black one if I can. There is a kawa green one in a shop near me with an alarm etc that is mint. May think about that one.

I'm not stupid so I think I will be able to handle the bike. Just because it can go fast doesn't mean you have to. If I was being silly I'd have bought the minxy 996 with goodies I seen , but I'm not, that is why I'm going for the 6R.

As I'm only starting I also need leathers and a helmet and boots and gloves. What do you guys recommend here? How much do I need to spend?

I'm thinking now about an R6 as there is a 2002 one in a shop near me, in blue, with 800 miles, datatag, posh alarm. £4500. Sound good?

That is a very good price had a look about and seems very cheap i wonder if its an import not that it matters much nice colour too bikes are getting a bit cheaper as chrismas gets closer also there is new models coming out worth waiting you may see even cheaper ones about but go for it if you cant wait

It's a UK bike from a Yam dealer with the remainder of the warranty. I'm going having a look at the weekend. Just after picking my integrale up and paying the fking £1000 bill. I think the main reason may be because of the new ones coming out. They claim to have changed a fair bit. A brand spanking R6 can be had for about 5.5k at the moment! I think the main reason I want obe is the looks, they've got 2 ZX-6R's in as well so I'll have a looky at them too.
