Does anyone at all here like Harleys?
Discussion
I rode a lovely (if damn heavy) 114 cubic inch HD today and was pleasantly surprised at how it shifted and sounded.
I've not ridden anything like this for a long time but the engine seemed to rev really well for something with 1868cc and just 2 pots. It had Screaming Eagle basic mods like intake and exhaust and was about 110 bhp i believe. Doesn't sound a lot does it?
Well that thing went bloody quickly, i was really surprised.
But i don't have a single biking friend who likes these monster twins. ANYONE here a fan?

Excellent! How are you finding it and what is the real range? I bought a Tesla in December and now seriously looking at an EV bike
I’ve no idea why anyone would want an ev bike unless it was a little scooter.Petrol bikes, even big ones, are already very economical. EV bikes not only look pants and unbalanced to the eye, but are heavy and a 1 speed, totally silent motorcycle really makes me want to get ready for a day out in the bends or on the track. Well, as much as a trip to my dentist does, anyway!
Versus a 1900cc Harley, 1300cc Ducati twin or 1000cc R1 going up through the gears? No contest. But i guess we already did the EV petrol thread!

S and S do a 143 cubic inch motor for late model HDs, with 162 bhp and 151 lb-ft on offer with the right set up.
That capacity, i believe, is 2,340cc of badass V Twin grunt and i am sure it will feel bloody rapid and sound evil.
That sounds pretty pathetic to me! That capacity, i believe, is 2,340cc of badass V Twin grunt and i am sure it will feel bloody rapid and sound evil.
In my biking days I had a KH500 that produced about 60 bhp and an RD 250LC that had about 35 hhp.
Even my 4 wheel BMW 325ti with a 2.5 engine was rated at 192bhp!
Just badass noise for the sake of noise. bolted to a 2 wheeled tractor IMHO.
We are talking about an engine with just 2 cylinders, which is revving to 5,000 rpm only and all about grunt not outright power. 162 bhp is amazing from a V Twin with a massive stroke and designed for stump pulling not a race track.
Otherwise you may as well say the biggest ship engines are rubbish as they only have 109,000 bhp from 25,480 litres of turbocharged 2 stroke!
BHP per litre is only one aspect of an engine. For a Harley it's about the 15th most important aspect!
