Just sold the original Speed Triple 900 communting bike (went to get a new front tyre fitted and dealer made me an offer for the bike I couldn't refuse) and bought a 2004 Speed Triple SE 955i. What a difference - chalk and cheese!

original:-

New :-

For the non-triumph-aficionados, the Speed Triple SE has black engine, frame, wheels, swingarm and paintwork and was 1 of 125 made. Here is the normal Speed Triple 955i:-

I know what I prefer.....

One quick question - what is the aftermarket gel seat and is it worth getting one?

Your SE looks great. I still have my old 95 model, also in black. I love it, so don't expect to ever sell it. The T301 model is a modern classic now and according to a Triumph dealer that I spoke to recently; they sell really quickly if they can get one. I'm sure the new one is superb, and I hope to get one at some time.
regards, Desmo.

Every time my old bike went in for a service, the dealer was interested in buying it but I held out.

Good ones will always sell, but there are a few dogs around and a few stripped Daytona's that have been turned into fake speed triples.

I was thinking of buying a bike this summer...now that my life preservation instincts have started to kick in and I reckon I'd have to go for a triple... always loved these coolest bike on the road imo....

Took out a Daytona 955i for a test ride before I bought the New Speed Triple - let just say that being used to not having a fairing keeps your speed legal-ish, unless you have a go on a faired bike......

Decided that I'd stick with the unfaired bikes in future as I would have my license shredded within a couple on minutes on a faired one!
