The back tyre of my new (to me) CB500:

Really noticed after I picked it up that cornering was a bit, er, digital - bike seemed reluctant to turn in or lean smoothly, and felt nervous. Not as nervous as I was, obviously. The bike felt like it either wanted to stand upright or lean completely. Tyre is a Bridgestone, and actually looks worse in real life, with more pronounced central wear. Front tyre is same type of Bridgestone, but almost new.

Now I know that I ride like someone who's not very good at it, but would this tyre be causing some of my cornering problems? I was fine on my last bike - much lighter CG125, admittedly - and have ridden a CB500 before and don't remember it feeling so strange.

Any thoughts from voices of experience appreciated!

It's this kind of high level technical expertise I was after. wink

Thanks folks - hard to know what things ought to look or feel like when you don't have much to compare with. I'll get another tyre asap.
