First off. Gutted.

Going round an island, literally no more then 5mph, front end slipped on diesel, had a slide along tarmac with the bike in front of me. Im fine, may have a bruise on my hip, but thats it.

Bike (suzuki SV650 2007) hit kerb, gone down the insurance route, i hope i have done the right thing. I was in two minds as its looks repairable, but going to be expensive frown As much as i am p*ssed off, i cant really say i could have done anything different, it was a small patch of diesel, clear as day once the sun came out and i could see it, unless i had been upright over it i was always going to have slipped.

Damage - lower fairing cracked and scratched, exhaust 3-1 pipe dented, main exhaust scratched and snapped at join with 3-1. Rear Brake lever snapped, bar end scratched, top cowl scratched by light lens, rear cowl cracked. Here is the biggy - where the 3-1 mounts to the frame just before the silencer, the mount has cracked. This must have hit the floor / kerb and taken a big impact.

so...now got to hope i get a decent pay out and decide what to replace it with :-(

Once it had stopped raining i could see exactly where it had happened...

The patch was larger but the rain washed it away as i watched. Just bad luck and bad timing...

you can see my grinding marks across the roundabout on this one frown

Gutted for you mate, it's a rubbish thing to happen. I'm working in leeds atm, coming out of the city in the wet terrifies me as the sheer amount of diesel you can see glistening on the top of the water waiting to catch you out is rediculous.
Thanks for this, will look into it. Informed police and council in the hope it doesnt happen to anyone else - all it takes is another shower to have someone down.

I was lucky so i keep being told by the Mrs! Probably going to go on the 125 tomorrow as i keep reliving it and its playing on my mind, need to try and get it out my system!!

I really hope its not a write off!!

Raining too heavy to have seen or smelled it, i crossed in a line a of traffic behind a car, about 7-8 yards behind, just slipped off simple as that. Front end was gone before i knew what happened, scary - at least if you over cook it you can give yourself a bking...not sure that applies here. I will just be scared sh*tless at every island in the rain!!! I dont see why it should stop me, but i will think twice if its heaving down.

Git in the car behind didnt stop, just slowed to watch me slide across the road, thanks.......
