I have just been sent an image of my old race Pantah. I sold it some months ago and the new owner has just finished restoring it. He took it to a Classic Show in Paris a week or so ago and returned with some silverware.

I have no method of hosting this image, so if one of you kind people sends me an email address I will forward the image and we can all share

It was a 500cc to get homologated as 1978 for Forgotten Era as they had the strictest compliance rules. The spec when I parted with it was:

Ducati Pantah Racer

Main specification [from memory]

• Frame is TL600
• Forks are 38mm Ceriani
• Brakes are Brembo P8 std on front and P5 underslung on rear
• Discs are EBC all round
• Wheels built in Milton Keynes. 2.15 x 18 Front and 3.5 x 18 Rear
• Swingarm is standard Ducati [Seeley design]
• Rear shocks are Koni Dial a ride
• Tank is by Terry Baker
• Seat is from Meadspeed in Newport Pagnell
• Footrests & controls all made by Witty Ducati
• M/Cyl are both from modern Ducatis as they are small light and inboard, with adjustable lever spans. CRMC accepted these !
• Engine is 916 66mm crank with bored & nikasild 750 barrels taken out to 92mm = 877cc
• Cyl heads are by George Mez and have 42mm inlet and possibly 35 or 37mm exhaust valves
• Exhaust was hand made by someone who races G50 based in Leicestershire ?
• Cylinder base is 2mm thick I think
• Pistons are either Fast by Ferracci or V2 around 11 to 1 cr
• Rods are stock 916
• Clutch is all normal Pantah 650 wet design with possibly one more plate ?
• Gearbox is stock 5 dog design 750 from an Indiana or similar
• Vernier cam pulleys are from V2 in Australia
• Cams are std
• Belts are std Ducati
• Not sure on brake pads or fluids
• Engine oil was at best semi synth as full makes the clutch slip
• Rev counter is a Hemmings/Elliot
• No kill swith
• Fairing is early 900 Hailwood
• Brackets are st
• Clip ons are normal as I crashed the lovely alloy ones [ha-ha]

The new owner had a mould made I believe, after being bum raped on buying the one that is now fitted. It had a later MHR900 one on it when I sold it.

email me and I will give you his details
