Purchase Imminent - 4.0 Chim
Discussion
Hi All,
Spent a while lurking and soaking up all the excellent info on here (and the encouragement to get stuck in and buy one). I've taken a lot of inspiration from the 8K Chim thread and am going a similar route i.e. buy it then spend on getting it right.
Obviously I have only seen a poor advert but a long chat with the owner and my inherent immaturity means it's almost a done deal.
Off work next week so hugely excited about the train trip to Nottingham and really really hoping I will be driving home. I have no idea what I'm looking at (and I've read all the lists of things to check) but if it goes and stops, I'm sold.
It's had outriggers done, suspension refresh and upgraded leads etc. What could possibly go wrong???
Got a long drive back to Ashtead so will be taking the AA paperwork and a fully charged phone.
Pic's to follow, really excited to experience some of the stuff you lot have been raving about.

If its a good one you will know it. You will possibly over look some stuff, i did. Picked mine up last Saturday.
But good luck! and if you purchase enjoy the drive home. Don't go to made with the loud peddle until its up to operating temp keep under 3k rpm until then and you have also got to "know" the car a bit.
But most important is to enjoy the "Experience"

Good luck, hope to see you on a TOSH soon. There's a lot of TVR owners in the area who can help and compare notes. Portzi is just round the corner from you with a Chim.
Hope you don't have the same experience as me when I went to pick the Tuscan up from Leicestershire on the train. Cooling fans decided to stop working that morning so I ended up coming back in a loaner X5 and it was delivered a week later.

Hi Rob, it was a fantastic drive out over the surrey hills we had, and a Fezzer joining us to boot !!!. Go see Phazed before you go to buy. He knows his way around the Chimaera and can levitate it to show you the underneath. Ask him nicely and he may even show you what a Chim with serious grunt feels like.....and I mean serious grunt.
Is the owner on PH? Do we know him?
I can think of three of us in the Nottingham area if you want a second opinion on the day.

It is silver.... and I've only seen it listed on the tvr club website, pictured in a field. I dont think the owner is on PH
Qbee, I honestly wasn't fishing for help on the day and can't believe that anyone would give up time to help an internet weirdo.
My Dad had been involved in club rallying for many years. When he died I decided I wanted in his honour to buy a two seater open top car as a fun car, and possibly do some track days as well in it. I looked at (don't laugh!) the Merc SLK 3.2, Porsche Boxster 3.2, BMW Z4 3.0, bearing in mind that for my wife to enjoy the car with me it had to have an electric roof, heated electric leather seats, and be comfortable. Qbee, I honestly wasn't fishing for help on the day and can't believe that anyone would give up time to help an internet weirdo.
During my searches I called in at a local sports car manufacturer (Sebring), couldn't afford their Healey lookalikes, but they had a Chimaera and a Boxster in the showroom. I sat in the TVR and signed the order 20 minutes later after a brief test drive.
What I didn't realise, and the point of this post, was that there was a huge loose network of TVR enthusiasts out there, on the street, on PH and in the Tufty Club. I had 500 new friends over night, friends who would go out of their way to enjoy the cars with me and help me with problems.
Welcome to the club - and join in the TVRCC and PH fun. There is something for everyone, be it track action, race meetings, Le Mans, drive outs, club meetings, car shows, talk bks about cars, whatever floats your boat.
Let us know what time you are panning on seeing the car and I will see if one of us can help you inspect the car if you want that. I am aware that I am likely to be at Snetterton for quite a bit of next weekend, helping a friend with his car in the Dunlop TVR European Challenge meeting, but if I am available at the right time I will happily help myself.

Qbee, that is brilliant and inspiring.
On the off chance, I would appreciate some help but not expecting anything. I'm meeting the seller at about 1:30 tomorrow
I am normally out seeing clients on a Monday, but as it happens I am on grandchildren duty tomorrow morning, so will be around and available at lunchtime. I will also see if Daz is available as well. The more the merrier. On the off chance, I would appreciate some help but not expecting anything. I'm meeting the seller at about 1:30 tomorrow
Please give me a call on 07736 774325 and we can sort out the logistics.
Lovely image you portray!
Seller has advised I go to Long Eaton (for 1pm) and has offered to collect me from there. Unless Long Eaton's on your way, shall we meet at the seller's place in Stapleford?
If you were to relax on Monday night with a glass of something, what would it be?
I'll PM you my number right away
