I have finally got a Chimaera after 20 years of wondering, thought I would buy cheap as it's a keeper. It suffered rear fiber damage at some point in 2014 and was a member of the TVR Car Club in the same year. I was hoping someone on here may know the car and give me some info on it's upkeep before the damage? Reg is P47 0PX. Thank you.

I would normally just say "Enjoy" but the Renewable Energy brigade don't like it apparently and it really upsets them. ![laugh](/inc/images/laugh.gif)
I'm sorry - I don't get your point - is there a problem with p*ss*ng off the tree-huggers? ![laugh](/inc/images/laugh.gif)

I do agree that trees should be protected and nurtured ...
... after all if it wasn't for the trees then we wouldn't have the fuel to make our beloved roar.

Ha ha, no mate, it was a deliberately obscure reference for being complained about for using just the word "enjoy" rather than a phrase including the word enjoy.![biggrin](/inc/images/biggrin.gif)

Thanks lads. Already having a lot of fun in it and over the past two weeks. First time out in the rain yesterday and got very sideways in 2nd on a roundabout ending up facing the wrong way! I was told to take it easy in the wet but couldn't resist it. A good lesson learned early on with no harm done.
I will be driving it all the time, not one to be kept in the garage and polished.

Welcome 4.5 - good choice of car!
Easy on the loud pedal in the wet...and dry! You won't have to try hard for a repeat performance!

Thanks Rich.
Taking all corners really slow now in the wet.
Still managed to spin in 3rd today on the straight of a motorway in rain, getting the hang of it now though.
Ha ha ha, brilliant - go steady! How old are your tyres? Mine is TERRIBLE in the wet. It's not just a handful when pressing on, it's positively dangerous and has a mind of its own, ALL the time in the wet. It will skip lanes with no notice, no warning, no additional sitting water, just for no reason. ![eek](/inc/images/eek.gif)

I was chatting to a fellow TVR mate about it and he asked how old my tyres are. I said they were fine as they still had loads of tread left etc but he said "nevermind that, how old are they?" Turns out, old tyres really do make a difference.
I checked the date stamp on mine - 2001 on the rears and 2006 on the fronts!!! They'll be changed (all 4) the next time I get the car out and should make a massive difference.
Point being - check yours! They might have loads of tread left but if they're old, the rubber will have gone hard and brittle and won't be particularly grippy.
