different front grill
Discussion
The later ones/post 97 had slightly different bonnets.
The vents are larger and the bonnet sweeps up more at the trailing edge.
The dials were all chrome/alloy surrounds by this time.
The boot also has a much more pronounced overhang aswell.
The other thing as mentioned is the door release was now located under the door mirrors.

Yeah, it is worth pointing out that this occurred over a period of time, rather than a precise cutover. Don't know whether that was hours, days, weeks or months though
I thought there was a distinct change, but every so often you come across a car with some of the features of series 1 and some of series 2.
Edited to say: chima, just have a big frontend impact, and get the nose replaced

Or are you talking about mine, which has a Zertec s/steel mesh with a vertical carbon fibre bar. See this rare car here: www.pistonheads.com/ads/displayAd.asp?advertId=6079
When a new car was ordered from the factory in 1996 by one of my previous customers he ordered it as the old shape and when he went to view it at the factory it was the later style - no body at the dealership new and the customer was chuffed to bits!
He took his car in September 1996 and Sue Stoker at the factory called it the 95 1/2 model !!
Works for me.

They also altered the boot hinges, made them smaller, rear boot lip larger as Cerbera, rear bumper strip colour coded. If you took it on a Tuscan Challenge race day you could probably get the whole lot done!
Anyway the down side of all this was when the same guy part exchanged his Chimaera for a Cerbera in 1999 on the V reg in September the next month they bought out the facelifted model - He was gutted.
Swings and roundabouts etc

I think mine's one of those transition chimaeras...
-I have all the chrome dials on the inside
-chrome button to pop the doors (ie not the wing mirror bubble)
-grill at front
not necessarily a good thing tho, cos when I needed to change a brake calliper, TVR had to send a whole box down so that my local dealer could try every one ever used on a chimaera
still, I love it, and that's what counts
