Andy - pity on the numbers - this IS the same one we talked over at the ACE last month - something a bit wrong there - ok 500's do not make anywhere near what people think - but this has had soome good mods if I remember right. 220rwhp would be a 250 - 260 fly so not hugely down though would have thought 230 rwhp would be about 275 fly (which would be about right) - MAYBE NOTHING WRONG WITH IT!
Yup, it's the car from the ACE. I avoided total red-faced mode since it was the most powerful on the day, but not by any significant margin.
I was not expecting there to be such a variation in power output amongst these cars, to the extent that a good standard car was only slightly down on power compared to an average modded one.
Does that match your experience with engines?

what was the best std 500 / RV8 (not just on this test).
Hello Jon,
I don't suppose we will be seeing these 'plus 1' when you figures are out?

About time you paid th ACE a visit - fancy it friday - hay I could go in a TVR if you took me! If not mini again - mine still 2 week+ away from rolling.
In case anyone is interested , I went for a second opinion and had a power run at Power Engineering (Uxbridge) this morning....

Nice that Power Engineering still had the charts from two years ago!

Hey, its not that I didn't trust Charlie's machine, I just wanted to rule out one of the variables before embarking on a wild goose chase.
And speaking as one computer guy to another about diagnosing problems, I know you know exactly what I mean.
Anyway, it may still be a bit of a wild goose chase since the problem could be anything from a worn cam (10,000 miles ?!?), to a blocked intake (possible) to a blocked exhaust (possible), to... well... something we haven't thought of yet.
I can feel my wallet shrinking already.

So what are we looking for in the other thread - did it make alot more before - how would you be able to compare if you think it maybe sick.
The cams can go at any time my first 500 was perfect for 20k miles and still going stong I believe (well over 50k), current (full TVR FSH - for what that is worth!) was knackered at 26.5k. Alot (best p[art of a grand to get new cam in) but pissed off with the thing by then (it was perfect and better post cam change). I just wanted RELIABLE Power and ALOT more of it. Only way to bin RV8 or spend 10k+.

Thanks, worn cams (10k miles after fitting!) seem a prime suspect at the moment.
See you at the ACE on Friday?
