comparison track day
Discussion
Anthony, you are putting people off!
Although everything Anthony says is very true you can enjoy a day in your standard car, just don’t expect to beat any records!
Everyone thinks that their own car is very fast but when you are on the track and you get passed by some hotted up Honda Civic you wonder what it’s all about?

When I first started doing trackdays in my then standard 4lt I had just as much fun as I do now,its about finding the limit of you and your car. Then if you make a few handling improvements for the track, you will find that you'll improve the road manners of the car no end. We are a friendly helpful bunch even if Peter still thinks my name is kev, mind you he is getting on a bit.
lots of good points by peter and anthony i cant emphasis how much fun it is my car turns out a genuine 200 bhp being only the lowly 3.5 and is just great fun to drive, road tyres very forgiving still havent got the grin off my face and tims is even bigger he really got the bug so look forward to the next one some pics of the day below.

I didn't see Ian's on track..........
Cheeky bugger I was out there, just not able to keep up enough for you to see me in your mirrors
I managed to top out at just about 125 at the end of the main straight one time which was about 8-10 mph quicker than my usual speed........and buggars up your braking point The next sharp right was rather interesting
All in all a really great day for me made all the better by the company I enjoyed and the especially laps with Anthony and Nick
Downside................more upgrades being investigated so a chat with my bank manager is upcoming. I'd like to do a few more track days with the same crowd this year so will look at the Anglesey option and keep me in the loop with anything else that catches the eye.

Peter, looks like your're reading a map there. Did you get a bit lost going round in circles? Made a vow this year only to do tracks I hadn’t done before.
So far I have failed twice, Cadwell and Snetterton.
But the next two bookings, Anglesey and Rockingham, are new to me.
And I will do Oulton Park this year.
There is also just a possibility I might go to Thruxton.......the car was 90dB on Thursday. Thruxton’s limit. And I have track cans too. Anyone else thinking of fitting a turbo?
So sorry, Stewart, I am not doing Snetterton again this year.

I have been following thread with interest since the start. What I really want to know is what you all thought about each others engines. IF, someone reading this, was to go for big power, which is the best route to go, based on each others cars last week?
On another note, back in the day, I used to really enjoy doing track days and sprints in my (bog standard) 350i FHC. Its a long time since I have been on track, but with my Griff restoration almost complete, I could well be tempted to join you. Not going for any major mods, I have spent enough already, but it does have ACT sports manifolds.

Now there’s a question!
Judging the cars that were there at Snetterton it probably goes in this order.
Wedge 350
Tuned Chimaera 400/standard Chimaera 500
Turbo 4.6 Chimaera
Tuned 5.5 NA Chimaera
Trevors tuned 400 goes extremely well and from memory the power output is about the same as the standard 500 so can’t be dismissed as the little one!
Edited to say, I can't remember how Kevs went!

my wedge was the least quick in a straight line agree with list but found lots of cars to have a tussel with not least of all a massive nascar he just couldnt get it round the corners, plus a fairly quick puma and a racing school renault clio, my point is theres allways fun to be had whatever your power level might look at some proper trackday tyres as the road tyres are easy to push to hard.

How does that compare to how much money has been spent on them (on the engine, not the whole car).?
