Simonwedge thanks for the information
I thought the rears looked a bit wider looks very good on a 8.5j and I take it you have not had any rubbing on the rear wheel arch
on a et35 how far do your wheels stick out ? im guessing they are nearly flush with the outside of your wheel arch
are you using a 40 or 45 profile on your 17" rears
cheers keith
No, no issues with rubbing. As per last post, rear tyres are 45 profile. The other thing I would mention is that, depending on what wheels you go for you may need to fit longer wheel studs on the front to give enough thread to bolt them up securely - they're cheap enough anyway; http://www.burtonpower.com/catalogsearch/result/?q...I thought the rears looked a bit wider looks very good on a 8.5j and I take it you have not had any rubbing on the rear wheel arch

TVR got it so right with the Spider wheel that it's very hard to improve on their looks with aftermarkets.
It's a shame they have all the properties of lead.
I wonder if a wheel manufacturer might one day bring out a replica without these drawbacks and maybe a four-bolt option.
This. It's a shame they have all the properties of lead.

off to look for a pic of a Chim with Spiders on.........

Loving the wheel set up and stance on your car simonwedge My car has pas would it be a problem using the same set as you have?
Hope you don,t mind me asking but who supplied the wheels and tyres combo?
I only mentioned about the lack of PAS because it restricts the size of tyre you can put on the front without the steering getting too heavy. You could use the same size on yours or you could go a bit wider on the front if you wanted?Hope you don,t mind me asking but who supplied the wheels and tyres combo?
Wheels were from Rimstyle, tyres from Tyreleader - fitting them together from local branch of HiQ (Tyreleader deliver them straight there).

Other than changing from 15/16 inch to 16/17 inch I've deliberately kept the other dimensions similar to the Estorils. This has meant that they fit without any clearance/rubbing and no need for spacers. Actual sizes are:
Front - 16 x 7.5 ET25 with 205/50 16 (car is non-PAS)
Rear - 17 x 8.5 ET35 with 235/45 17
Which wheels did you purchase ?Front - 16 x 7.5 ET25 with 205/50 16 (car is non-PAS)
Rear - 17 x 8.5 ET35 with 235/45 17
hi all , as the original op for this thread I thought I would update you as to where i'm at with wheels
with all your help i'm considering between 2 wheels at the moment 1st choice will be the lenso bsx 17"
which as you can see from the photos below look great the other choice is the lenso eagle 2 which I hope to
see next week when they are back in stock to try them up against my car , the eagle 2 is a new wheel from lenso
and I think it may give the car a modern classic look I wont know until I see it in the flesh
if any one knows how to post up a link for this wheel "eagle 2" please do so I would like to hear your thoughts/views on it ?

I think either would suit - you need to choose.
I have seen plenty of TVRs with the one you are showing next to your car, and I think they look great.
The Lenso Eagle 2s are more modern. Your car will look individual, and IMHO fantastic.
The only TVR I have seen with wheels anything like those is a very special car, the Vulcan Tuscan.
Not identical, but you get the idea of what gloss black wheels with silver facings might look like

Thanks guys for posting up the lenso pics of the eagle 2 etc and comments
I think I've made my mind up over the weekend and am going for the the lenso bsx
even though I haven't seen the other wheel the bsx looks good and I think more in keeping with a 15 year old car
what I don't want to do is have a tvr with wheels that are ott the lenso bsx are a safe aftermarket upgrade from the original imola's
and with a 17" wheel back and front should fill up the arches nicely
will post up when there all fitted
