Impromptu meet up/drive out Cotswolds-ish
Discussion
Hi Gareth, Yeah it sure comes alive when the sun hits it,color changes all the time but when it's cloudy it blends in looking like a dark silver car. If I'd had pound for every time I heard someone mention color,or me have to say it's spectraflair silver it would of been a right few ££££ by now .
Hope to see you on the next one.
Hope to see you on the next one.
Enjoy the run guys.
After weeks of toying and throwing I’ll be putting mine on jacks this weekend to remove rear wishbones to have stronger drop link mounts welded on. I’ve had them over a year. I should have started a week ago but with this glorious weather.. I’m close to selling it and if I take the roof off that idea will go out the window so I’ve been driving with it on,,,,, madness but I know me,,,,,
Sooo want to forget that and come have a blast. Hmmmm!

Why are you thinking of selling Alun? I always thought you'd be buried in that car before you contemplated selling it!After weeks of toying and throwing I’ll be putting mine on jacks this weekend to remove rear wishbones to have stronger drop link mounts welded on. Come out for a drive instead - 21 degrees and blue skies on Sunday, blast through the Cotswolds with some noisy TVRs and a decent pub garden...

I wonder if it can wait until next week Come out for a drive instead - 21 degrees and blue skies on Sunday, blast through the Cotswolds with some noisy TVRs and a decent pub garden...
I’ve just had a brainwave. I was going to pay a local mechanic who’s a good welder but that won’t be until opening hrs Monday so might have a word with another mate who I know would do it for beer tokens,,,,
I’m on a budget that doesn’t include putting it in a hedge this weekend
I worked outside for years and actually really enjoy it in weather like this so mechanics on my ace TVR is weirdly ok.
I want a garage which will require a long driveway and a fair investment as I have to remove other stuff for access. It should be great when done with a really large floor space garage and gated car port so lots of dry store. Just what you need for a Tvr.
Then start again on a basket case that needs love. Learnt a few lessons along the way and do most of it myself. My motorbike friend is an inspiration and nothing stops him as he can make anything out of metal. He’s a skilled welder and mechanic who worked for some Tvr experts in the past and race teams. With a bit of his help I could save a small fortune on many things.
It’s very unfortunate to have to sell my TVR but life moves on and this is part of my next chapter, if the TVR helps me do that it really was a true friend. I’m welling up,,, leave it out

That makes more sense, at least you're not leaving the fold I’ve just had a brainwave. I was going to pay a local mechanic who’s a good welder but that won’t be until opening hrs Monday so might have a word with another mate who I know would do it for beer tokens,,,,

There will be huge amounts of satisfaction in doing that, far more rewarding than buying a 'finished' example, and having experts like that on hand is exactly what you need for when things go tits up! Plus for any labour intensive jobs just mention a BBQ & cold beer and you should find yourself with a host of willing workers...
I also decided that I need a garage going forward, albeit on a smaller scale as we will be looking to move in 5-6 years- so I've spec'd up a wooden one that will give enough room for the car and some workshop space behind. Going to be doing almost everything ourselves so I've put it off until September so we can enjoy the summer without the garden looking like a building site!

That reading caught me by surprise Alun
Sometimes people forget that we end up owning these cars a lot longer than we may of anticipated and a change can always work out,and if it don't then you buy another TVR.
Good luck which ever route you take Alun
Hi Jas, I’m already looking at another one as I’m already thinking I can’t live without one. Maybe an old S that needs a V8 as I already have heads and injection system spare. If I could turn it around so I have a garage and another one to work with,,
Keep seeing Darren Ravens V8S with MBE and it’s rather awesome.
The problem I have is I don’t think any other Tvr would turn me on quite like the one I already have.
I’m two thirds the way through completely restoring it when I think about it. A chassis job would be just putting the same good stuff back on so only really a few brake lines and chassis re coat....... it doesn’t have to cost 5k hmmmm.
Then it’s a car for life at very little cost to run or own.
So close......
have a good run out boys, I’m missing you already

Well you had the weather for it ....... Photo's ? How many cars?
Hope you had a lovely day We had about 25-28 cars @ our Bulls head meeting,I went in the Chimaera as my T350 is only being picked up today.
Had 3 Chims and Jay's Tuscan. Oh and a bonus Escort Costworth that turned up shortly after us. We almost got a spot of off-roading in after Google took us for a shortcut down the most single of single-track roads I've seen... We came through though Great venue too- big carpark & great food.
Photos are incoming, I took a load but they are too big to upload straight here (6000 x 4000 res) so need to save the compressed Facebook uploaded versions and get them posted instead...
Look great! I was thinking what perfect weather for a TVR run as I was driving up to Penrith for work yesterday afternoon
I did get a good run out on Sat though plus had the bonus of finding there was a local beer festival on in the town near my hotel which a colleague and I spent some time sampling - so silver linings and all that
Shall we try and get a date in the diary for another meet up?

Right folks.....whose up for another run out ?
Where ?
When Sunday Aug 5th
Would have definitely been up for it but I won't have sorted out my car's 'ticking noise' problem by then - earliest they can take the car back in is the week of the 13th. Where ?

I'm going out with my other half on the Saturday night to drown my sorrows instead
My car's a bit poorly at the moment too... Currently with Powers investigating low oil pressure at tickover.
They've tried replacing the oil pump but not helped - next step is to drop the engine and have a deeper delve in.
On the plus side, whilst they're at it I've asked the they sort me out a nice shiny MBE set up
