That smooth bore induction sounds a bit like a performance enhancement to me nick, but we can assume it was lack of availability of original parts that drove you to it?

Not to worry though, I can soon locate a nice new stretchy hoover hose for you.
You have come to the right place for just that sort of assistance smile

I wish all rodents were extinct - presently have mice in the Chimaera......seeds in the ventilation, chewed foam ditto, chewed gear lever gaiter, speedo has suddenly stopped working....

I am thinking of moving house to give my car a better chance of remaining unmolested by ruddy rodents
The forum did have a discussion on this subject some time back.

I recommended the Rentokil as it worked for me.

I also used their mouse traps, in tandem, to deal with a particularly clever little fellow that had somehow managed to jump the trap each time. I ended his Olympic dreams by placing two in a row; he did not clear the second hurdle angel

Come on, let me in!

It's not as if I have an LS, Ford or somesuch engine.

I still have the original Morris Marina ashtrays and the TVR gear knob.

All I'm doing is trying all the bits that you "very standard" guys may need in the future.

Posted as I'm really bored waiting while the daily has an MOT!
But those Lupo lights!

I'll have any of your old standard bits, as you won't be needing them any more.
Should just about manage to assemble a full car from that lot. tongue out

Oops, counting problems! smile
Unfortunately, even though I bought it when it was three years old, it came with a CD player!
Mine was fine at starting until about a year ago, as you say down to age. Also mine has never leaked.
smile
Never assume the CD player wasn't factory fitted.
Simply, TVR did what you asked (for the most part), when ordering new, and a lot of dealers would fit some requested 'options' prior to final delivery to the customer. The customer was often none the wiser.

Good to see another that like to keep it 'much as it was' smile

UMCC sounds just up my street so please can I become a member. My Chimaera 450 is unmodified and the engine has no bits of blue, red or any of the other garish colours that some people appear to favour. There will be no blowing bits, dually plenum jobs or any other such tat added to my car. Photographs are below.

In addition I did help you out with photographs of the under bonnet labels!
I have to admit to a little jealousy at the very clean original engine bay, when I was looking at those photos.
And the rest of the car looks to be as exceptional.

Welcome to the 'club' of course, and in case you didn't see; I got the stickers thanks to being able to identify the precise ones from your photos thumbup

Okay, that's a bit harsh maybe.
You may continue on your road to damnation, and I wish you the best of luck with it, truly smile
Or you may join the true faith, and spend that huge wad you are planning on lavishing on the SC, on restoration to her former glory.

Believe me, the idea of going out again, in a TVR that can truly hold it's own with all but the most extreme of super cars, appeals to me more than you would know.
But maybe it's better to remember the Glory Days, and let the memory of greatness be enough.
Allow a graceful and relaxing retirement to the old girl.
In her day she was truly great.
She fought her wars, and she won.
How much more can I ask of her?

As you say; Respect to all.

Yes very true. I will have to check the original invoice.
I have always liked to keep my cars in original (as possible) condition. I thought I was the only one. smile
On the other hand from and engineering point of view, its interesting to see what can be done. hippy
That's the whole point of the 'club' / post;
To let people like you, and so many others (even me), know that they are not alone.
I have to admit to wondering how alone I was at first.

Hopefully we can provide a recognised list of owners that can tell you how it can work in standard form.
Where to get original parts, or parts that behave as original.
The list of things that do not need improvement, simply proper maintenance, is far longer than the list of things that 'require' upgrading/improvement.

Am I allowed to switch the old blade fuse for a new midi one and still stay a member? I seem to have lost all my non-ignition electrics, so suspect the poor quality blade fuse.....
It it likely to ...dramatically improve performance, or visibly alter the appearance of the vehicle...?

I think you are safe with that one smile

However, ChimpofDarkness has just 'rebuilt' his fuse box.
That in itself is quite remarkable, as it had presented the perfect opportunity to bin the lot and "do it right". But he will now be quite expert on the subject I should imagine.

I have to admit, if that happened to mine, I would just run to a TVR mechanic / electrician.

There is going to be one area of modification needed for members in the UMCC club biglaugh

You will need easy access to your smoking jacket ,pipe and slippers laugh
Do you have any idea how difficult it is to find a smoking jacket these days?
For that matter, to buy a decent pipe, or a good pair of men's slippers?

Probably a damned sight easier than making your tyres fit though, from what I can see smile

On the plus side if I dare mention it, I'm only waiting for a throttle body gasket kit from the states and my car will be, (short of a remap!) finished..........for now rolleyes.
That's good news Peter.
I imagine that even the heavily modified Chimaeras are more fun to drive, than to work on. biggrin

Didn't think you believed in waving it around, Bill? confused
I think you will find that whatever that is being waved around, is most definitely modified, and therefore could not possibly be mine.

As this (please don't go here nono) has again reared it's three heads (and webbed toes), I feel it's only fair to give this topic a bump too.

For the sake of fair and equal reporting (and common decency), you understand. biggrin

I'm new to the Chimaera forum and am not too sure if hanging an air freshner from my rear view mirror is classed as a modification? I'm torn between the modified and the unmodified. Please help!
Whatever you do it will stink in both camps
Tis a fair point Derek

At least here, one can admit to having some actual original TVR part numbers without having to hang their head in shame biggrin

ETA
I wouldn't class the mirror hung air freshener as a 'modification' personally.
Tasteless possibly.
Unnecessary certainly, the roof should be off! smile
