Unless you have built a high spec engine for the track I can't see the benefit especially as modern oils are a million times superior to the stuff you used to get in tin cans. And why many manufacturers today have 20,000 mile service intervals despite most engines running with turbos too.
I see your point I only use a paper type filter myself but also change my oil and filter more than most inc magnetic drain plug and on filter, but if I had the option of sieving my oil even better (lower microns) I would be the old engine bit as nothing to do with it for me I just want the best for the motor have you seen what those magnetic sump plugs pull out the oil ? I dont run one of this syn style filters because I dont have the room they are a tad too long with my oil cooler in place but would if I could its a bonus But we're talking a 1950's petrol engine here. Simon, I can't see you'll have any clearance issues with the Royal Purple 20-253, it's quite a compact filter mate.If you need to check for clearance before you buy a Royal Purple 20-253, it's 96mm long
