Hi the only real solution is to fit a replacement bearing carrier. The lock tight looks good option if it's a very small amount of wear. I have to confess and I know I am going to regret putting this on the forum. I have " fixed it" maybe. I purchased a shim 0.006 to sit against the bearing face and I used metal epoxy around the outer of the bearing. I put the inner race back in and put it under a bench press overnight. Before I get too many comments I had nothing to lose and it's temporary while I find a reasonably priced carrier. I have reassembled and the wheel rotates with no grumbling and the play is gone. I not driven it yet however. The worst case is that the epoxy with crush and the bearing will spin again.

Thank you to Sardonicus Julian Godfrey Engineering https://racetuners.com/ had a spare secondhand one I now have. They do produce an upgraded one for those interested based on ford transit bearing. I don't need that for occasional weekend use. Thank you again for all the comments.

Hi, There's a pair on Ebay for £200. mine was in line with that from a business. New upgraded ones are the same sort of cost but I didn't need a pair.
