..and just for the record, since someone mentioned it, the serpentine engine was not a 1997 modification. It came in well before that.

Ha,

I can do dry interior with no leaks, but the windscreen wipers have no intermitent wipe, and the passenger side mirror is stuck on with duck tape.... Does that count?

Cheers,

best to describe the 8-or-so years of Chimaera production as an "evolution" - there are changes that have been made almost every year to the exterior:
3 front ends (wiremesh - open 'slat' - faired in lights)
2 bonnets (bigger holes to help cooling)
3 boots (2 different designs with 3 different hinge designs)
3 sets of door opening mechanisms (1st Calibra boot locks, 2nd same locks with aluminium cover for 'keyless' entry, 3rd the wingmirror nipples)
2 rear light designs (Fiesta - Lucas tank spares)
at least 2 side indicators (1st Vauxhall - later Ford)
2 numberplate mounts (backlit - top-lit)
2 rear bumper mouldings (from black rubber strip to more pronounced, colour-coded bump-strip)
2 windscreen wiper designs (from pointless to mildy useful)
and probably 10 other things I've forgotten....
Of course a lot of the changeovers were made around the same time.

Yep, thats right I got one of those - windscreen wipers that are useless rather than mildly helpful.....

Nice to have the squirter that point to the side and that doesnt hit the screen. Which moron thought of that one.... even the Citroen ones on the wiper arm point down onto the screen....

Cheers,

Paul

Actually quite handy for wetting annoying cyclists/motorbikes (come on, someone else must have done this?).

Easy peasy to solve. Take the washer plastic thingy off the wiper arm and bung up the holes you don't want with a bit of putty , while making some new holes. Be careful you don't jab yourself with the stanley knife (or whatever you use).

On the question of changes, take a look at Adrian Blyths website. He always puts pictures of the interior of the car and you can see quite a few differences....

www.adrianblyth.co.uk

Take special note of the Black Chimaera 4.0 on an L plate (£13950) and where the knob to open the doors are. Then the green Chimaera for £14750 with the same knob and the dials - one year apart, and both share the same front grill....

Confused - you will be.

Cheers,

Paul
(P.S. Excellent and simple site that...)
