So it becomes speed sensitive / adjusts automatically. Parking speeds - full assistance. Driving - reduces to whatever level of assistnace you want from 100% to 0%.

Can the unit be removed from a certain car or is it bespoke ?

Although that's a brand new one, they are made from Vauxhall Corsa B steering columns and you have to cut the top part of the column off and weld the tvr column to it.

There are threads that describe the process if you look and it all makes sense as you get to keep the original TVR unassisted rack with this mod, but I preferred to go with the subaru rack as it just looked too complicated to do at the time.

As I am still waiting for the rack to get here, I thought I would take the manual TVR rack to bits to get some progress going.

The track rods look different to those in this thread where they attach to the rack (female), do I need to buy a new pair from TVR parts to fit the Scooby rack?

Also the splined shaft is 380mm long, am I also right to assume that this will fit as it is, as I read a couple of posts where people found that their existing parts worked fine, but I am not sure if this was because their cars were PAS before or manual like mine.

Jazzdude I have the same problem with my manual rack. How did you get round this. The Track rod ends are an imperial thread. The Subaru is a metric thread. I do have the complete rack assembly for the subaru including track rod ends as its a brand new rack. Can you offer any help.
Cheers Colin

This is the Subaru rack I have and my spare manual rack.

I did notive that the Subaru rack arm could be tapped with a longer thread and the Subaru track rod ends could be used. Has anyone done this ? or do I need track rod ends from a power steering TVR rack. I am trying to do a photo by photo build of this to help anyone else with parts numbers etc.

I am pretty sure that I removed the track rods complete from my standard TVR PS rack and fitted them directly to the scooby rack. It's been a while........

I think we all know you want this doing Daz, If you give me chance to get mine done I might give you a hand getting yours done. You only live 20 minutes away from me mate, and I have a 4 post lift in my garage. Bear with me just sorting it all out.

Not sure Daz hoping to get the other parts in the next couple of weeks but I will get 2 sets of spacers done to mount the rack so I have spares to do another. One question for you daz, does yours have power steering already or not. Mine doesnt and it has no way of powering the rack thats why Ive gone down the route of electric power steering pump. Also mine is a pre serp, it cant run a pump from the engine easily without changing too many things. from memory when I looked at your engine it had a serpentine drive belt.

My rack must have been an early manual rack as the track rod ends were completely different to the ones others found on their rack, the ends were female as opposed to male and I couldn't use them in the subaru rack.

I bought a new pair from tvr parts and they fitted the subaru rack perfectly.
