Gets proper minging down there doesn't it hehe Think that plug is just a spare, there's a few of them about, I think from some of it being a modded range rover loom. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Those mounting holes are just that, holes in the fiberglass, the rust is from the radiator. Buy some satin black rust oleum multi purpose paint and do all of the engine bay, sorts it right out.

Stick your hand around the back of the washer bottle and you'll find the carbon canister. The bottom pipe through the wing goes back to the fuel tank, one coming out the top should go through the top of the wing and into the plenum. That long hanging one is half an inch long and lower on mine, so yours may be different. Do a search on it and decide whether you're better binning it all or keeping it, depends what your plans are with the car...
Looks like the connector has not been "connected" into anything for a long time, maybe never.. so will leave it alone smile

The top pipe, front of wing in pic, that hangs out into space goes back to the carbon canister ... there is another pipe that seems to go from the can up the wing and then out to the plenum .
There is a lower pipe across the bottom of the bay under the rad too, I assume that runs back to the tank.

Its the top pipe that concerns me, where should that connect too? if anywhere? Is it just a "breather"?

Just had a look at mine, thought that it was lower on the wing but it's in exactly the same place but been cut short, about half an inch long and looks a lot neater for it I think.
Right, so looks like its not anything to bother with smile

Decided I really ought to bite the bullet and get all the hoses of from the heater pipe, water pump etc and especially to look at the metal "S" pipe... here they are in all their, hmmm glory, well not really glory, more like knackered. I could maybe renovate the metal pipe but wouldn't it be nice in shiny stainless!
Had to cut the hoses off in the end, might just have been on 17 years at that!

So I now need hoses and some good clips to do it right and do it once.

Racetech have silicone hose in BLACK !! (don't want dago blue, orange pink whatever) up as a set at £142 plus the dreaded. Ebygum have some on at £120 inc VaT.. alternatively I could just get three hoses I need, ..... the top hose/ stat hose etc look to have been replaced already.

Anyone got recommendations for hoses and clips?

If you're throwing money at it you might as well buy some mikalor clips... mmmmm shiny hehe
Yes wondered about that, Mikalor were always the clip of choice when replacing the old British st clips that they used to put on stuff like Triumphs. Hmm, TVR, British and ,,,errrm ... careful smile

or maybe these? "Silicon" hose clips, oh, really?

If your going for black hoses then Powers Performance do a nice set. Bit expensive but I'm hoping they'll be on the car a very long time.
When tidying up my engine bay I opted for the stainless pipe, same reason as above, should last years and it looks far better than the metal one.
Here's a pic for some inspiration. wink

Bu&&%r !!

Now you are just upsetting me frown

Don't think I can get to that level but it will be tidy !

Ok, ordered a nice shiny metal pipe and some rad mounts from racetech ...having cut pipes off thought i would go for broke ( certainly will be if keep spending like this rolleyes ) and take off the rest of the pipes, hose to swirl pot had to be cut off along with the jubilee clip.frown
Having met with a few of the Blackpool tvr owners at a meet this morning i was told to get my hand in my pocket and get a set of hoses and do it properly !

So ordered pipe set from Viper Performance and mikalors from an ebygum source. So best part of £430 , including rad recore, and my cooling system should be hunkey dory , then someone mentioned the stat eek

It can be a bit fiddly getting all the air out of the system when you refill it. I don't know the method, but someone will.
Been thinking about this and wondered if it helps to jack the car up at front initially then let it down and final fill swirl pot... do i need to bleed radiator off through plug on offside as well ?

Not on ebay but i emailed the company and they still do them, they have added them onto ebay now smile

The company says they can make anything you want, in similar vein I presume.

I take it that it is well made at that price !!!!

Spent most of the day in the workshop putting coolant pipes on and radiator back together and installed.

Ended up cutting pipes, far too long, could have saved a fortune in silicone pipe! Mikalor clips worked well where I could put them, sometimes just not enough room as they are quite big compared to jubilee ones. Had to reuse some original jubilee stuff frown

Filled up system.... ran out of antifreeze, had less in my stock that I thought rolleyes

So upto top of swirl pot and decided I had enough for today... also discovered that the original bung in the swirl pot is split, good job I ordered a David Brown version ! not arrived yet so can't fire it up yet, itching to get back on the road ......

Saturday night so beerdrinkbounce

Heater cable is detached from control in the cabin,,, anyone know which way the valve ( under passenger dash) turns to open fully?

I presume that pulling on the cable direction closes the valve? but then again having started to get into the TVR foibles, who knows ! rolleyes

The easiest way to determine any value of this type is to remember if the value is pointing in the direction of the flow then it is ON.

If it is at 90 degrees to the flow then it's closed :smile
Yeah, but that means I need to adopt the TVR upside position, feet over the roof headache

Thanks for that, good point smile

Well, having had a couple of goes on each coolant pipe trying to get mikalor clips to fit i have had to give up. In some cases there is not enough room for them, much bigger than jubilee types but also the size range does not lend itself to the 5mm wall silicone hoses. frown

Never had this problem in the past with "rubber" pipes, the size issue manifested itself in hoses pissing water out when warm no matter how much i tightened them banghead
After clearing the garage floor of coolant for the third time i fitted jubilees to the offending pipes.
Anyway, this morning i refilled system and got to the point of fans coming on to see more water coming out from underneath.

Traced it back to the header tank cap, i only filled this 3/4 full, is this normal? The owners manual says 2" off the top...
