Had all pipes off and even renewed the swirl to header tank pipe, definitely clean

Was supposed to be out today, work got in the way but worse than that a small puddle under the connection from top rad to swirl.

Tightened the clip for the third time, these silicone hoses seem to get looser every day !

Just discovered a new idiot light on the dash... a green snowflake ! bit cold round my way !

Nothing in the owners manual about it but my Chim owning mate confirmed its an "ice sensor"

Where is the sensor located ?

Thanks for the info, I have two handbooks neither of which have that on page 6

I have dash locations/markings picture. It looks as if these handbooks I have are for early versions of the Chimera, mine is "99 model so I suspect this indicator was only on "later" models?

Have to see if its possible to get the right version of the handbook!

Cheers for the info, didn't spot it whilst I had the radiator out but that doesn't mean it wasn't there!

Had my mind on other things !

Have posted on the "fuel smell" thread and conscious that we have hijacked the thread so a question on the mod to the emission control pipe offside rocker to tee then to plenum / air intake.

Follow up to chimpongas .

Are plastic one way valves ok or are the metal ones preferable?

Here is a suitable intake stub cover, plug, I think. 16mm pipe diameter in different colours !

These are 15mm but a short length of copper tube should sort it along with the appropriate clips.

Bits for the Stepper motor pipes arrived today, Nice silicone cap fits perfectly on the stub from the air intake / plenum and a small cone filter fitted to the pipe from the stepper motor using a 15mm copper tube insert.
"TVR tie wrap " fastening to the throttle frame out of the way of the throttle bits / spring... just need to test it now.

The other breather pipe I am still debating about, need a suitable pcv but I have another silicone cap ready for that stub too

Yesterday was test day again for both the coolant leaks and the stepper motor / idle setup, nice day no rain and some sun, just the day for a top off run.........

Jumped in car, ok , eased myself in, turned key and it fired and died.

Tried again and the barsteward battery went flat , arrrggghhh !

Does it meter it?
I wondered too but its on the outside of the butterfly, i.e. its just fed from air on the filter side?

I am just following some suggestion brought up here regarding the bad air intake and hoping to improve the idle.

If it doesn't work all is not lost and i can return to standard easily, only a tenners worth of stuff in the end two gallons and 35 miles worth !

Well Steve, you appear to be correct

The engine runs like a t**t under 1500rpm, cutting out as well, no tickover.

Done a few adjustments to it but complete crap, took off the filter and reverted to the original setup and back to normal....lumpy tickover but at least it doesn't cut out.

So, it would appear that the stepper motor pipe actually takes some form of metered air from the MAF? as you actually surmised, any thoughts on how its done?
