Chimaera Rolling Road Day
Discussion
Who stole my other 20BHP?
Great day out. Thanks Charlie and everyone who allowed their pride-and-joy to be put under such toe-curling duress.
One thought: I was told the old girl was set up to run on 97 octane, which is what I have been putting in.
Charlie, what's the deal about using 98 octane on these kind of cars? My old yank-tank would automatically adjust itself to whatever petrol you put in. The 99 and 100 octane in Austria *really* made a difference at the top end. Should I switch to using 98 on the Chimaera and would I need to get a remap? Just a thought..

My Chimaera 4.0L had 11BHP more than before the service, which I've just had done at racing green! 210BHP last time and a more healthy 221.5BHP this time around with 10lbsft torque more. 230->240.
Would like to see what everyone else came out at....
Cheers,
Jon

There's no knock sensor in the RV8 as used in Tivs, so there is no adjustment of the timing to cope with different fuel grades.
Thanks Steve.
I'll stick to the 97 octane for now since the RR test showed, if I understood correctly, that it was perfectly tuned for 97 octane - no pops or bangs at all.

Did anyone compile a list of figures then, wheel figures would be good .
Harry
"V8 DYN" Crimson, Modded 500. Wheels 220BPH at 5600rpm, 239ftlb at 4500rpm. Slightly disappointed since this is a modded 500.
This was the engine with all the blue bits at the 12:00pm slot

Anyone else?

BTW, My Chimp 500 is rumoured to be 290+ at the wheels. I can't wait.
At least that nice Mr Daley chap said it was at the wheels.
Are you sure he didn't say at each of the four wheels.
H
When you say you can't wait - I doubt you will be saying that when you getthe real fwhp no.s! Just a hunch.
Dang! You were absolutely right!
Andy - pity on the numbers - this IS the same one we talked over at the ACE last month - something a bit wrong there - ok 500's do not make anywhere near what people think - but this has had soome good mods if I remember right. 220rwhp would be a 250 - 260 fly so not hugely down though would have thought 230 rwhp would be about 275 fly (which would be about right) - MAYBE NOTHING WRONG WITH IT!
