RR session on Saturday @ Ricky Gauld Performance Tuning in Huntly.
Run 1 - Max Power 337 bhp @ 5173 rpm, Max Toque 378 lbft
Run 2 – Max Power 337 bhp @ 5482 rpm, Max Torque 380 lbft
Generally the fuel Map was already pretty good in the cruise and normal driving areas. Top end was rich and was leaned out a bit for the second run. Could have done with a third run as it is still a little rich but time was limited as we also wanted to do some mapping on the road.
The road mapping was really useful and the car now drives much better, also managed to fix my shunting problem at low load /revs by increasing the fuelling on the bottom line of the table at around 1500 – 2000 rpm.
Only real problem is that my Lambda gauge seems to be quite a bit out (~0.5 higher than the Exhaust mounted RR gauge @ 3000 rpm) not sure if this is a calibration issue or a wiring issue similar to Daz’s. I’ll try and do a comparison between the RR data and My log of the second run to compare the AFR readings over the whole rev range.
Also still have the pre-cats in as I never had time to swap the manifolds over beforehand. Not sure what sort of improvement the de-catted manifolds will make but hopefully the current map won’t be too far out.
Your not on your own ,i think most are the same .. My Emerald is now spot on with the far more expensive calibrated lambda on the dyno .Run 1 - Max Power 337 bhp @ 5173 rpm, Max Toque 378 lbft
Run 2 – Max Power 337 bhp @ 5482 rpm, Max Torque 380 lbft

Had another go at fixing My Rev Couter at the weekend and realised that the Tach output was switched off in Tunerstudio.
Tried switching this using pin JS11, which seemed to be the default, but this gave a confilct error and didn't give a measurable volatge from the ECU output (I believe the output should be ~5v to drive the tachfix module)
Tuner studio gives the following options for the Tach out, can I ask what out put pin others are using.
IGN (JS10)
IAC1
IAC2
JS11
FIDLE
D14
D16
D15
AD06/JS5
AD07/JS4

When did you switch to emerald and what is the benefit over Megasquirt?
I was sick and tired of it ,the wiring was the problem ,it was a total mess . Jools ripped the lot out and did the whole install. He made me a bespoke loom and mapped it ,making more power and Torque , the icing on the cake was the switchable maps on the move giving me full power ,full power with pops and bangs and the "ECO" map .
Forgot to mention his made to measure leads . Its that smooth the car happily drives at 30mph in fifth

Interesting thread. I plan on getting a Megasquirt for the Chimaera near the end of the year but at the moment all this tuning stuff sounds very confusing. It would probably be a lot easier once the software is in front of me.
I plan on getting a wideband lambda soon so i can see what the original ECU is actually doing before changing it. Just trying to get a good understanding of the proces before taking the plunge

Hi Daz
Looks like a nice installation.
I have a switched input for dual maps as well but haven't bothered to wire it up yet. On the todo list just now. Also have knock input which may be useful in the future.
MOT next week so the AFR uncertainty is a real pain. I get the same reading on both the AFR gauge and in tuner studio, so I don't think its the grounds. I might just have a dodgy sensor. Fortunately the MOT place is happy for me to run a few tests on the MOT emissions machine before the test so I should be able to work out the offset and set the AFR target accordingly.

I`m not disputing the capabilities of the Megasquirt , I was offered a different product with a solution to get rid of the poor install . Looks like a nice installation.

I`m very happy with the Emerald install and the bloody fantastic mapping . I can trust the car .not worrying its going to fail .
Just wished i had done it in the beginning .
I'm still having a few issues with the idle on my car. Seems fine when cold but once warmed up the revs hunt between about 700 and 850 rpm. I'm running in open loop at idle as Ego control just makes it worse.
Looking at the stepper settings and not sure if this is set up correctly. anyone able to post their settings. A couple of pics of mine below.
Also looking at the injector opening time settings, as I've read on another forum that getting this set correctly can improve idle at low pulse widths. (My pulse width at idle is 2.13 ms)
I've fitted 30lb bosch red tops (0280155759) for which bosch state an opening time of 0.776 ms. If I change the opening time from the default 1.0 ms will I have to change the whole fuel map?

Are you on speed density or MAP Angus? and yes if you change the dead time on the inj you will have to rescale the map there is a way of doing this by a percentage but I have never looking into it I just added a percentage when I upped the FP to 3 BAR and again when fitting the new motor then re-tuned the VE table on the road I have no stepper fitted so cant help you there

Hi all,
Still having an issue with rough idle, usually when hot. So wondering if my stepper motor is setup correctly.
Anyone able to post there idle control settings if using the standard stepper motor?
What spark plugs are you using? Advice from Bailey Motorsport was to change from 7's to 6's and it cleaned my idle up no end.Still having an issue with rough idle, usually when hot. So wondering if my stepper motor is setup correctly.
