I know this thread is a few years old but I just came across it as I was about to buy a new motor, this thread gave me enough info to strip the wiper system and it turns out my large gearwheel was completely siezed, after cleaning and greasing it's working again so thanks, just saved £200.

It not £200 for a rebuild but glad you've fixed it. They can set on fire if they fail and just get hotter so don't risk it.
