well, thanks for the comments, I think in my heart of hearts if I went for anything other than the 5ltr I'd always be wondering...so will have to start looking, and think about building the garage some time soon...

ok i might be biased as ive got a 5.0 BUT I THINK IF YOUR CONSIDERING GETTING THE 5.0 THEN IT IS A MUST because you will never be happy with anything less. I drove 4's 4.5's and 5.0's in the hunt for "the one" and found them all stinky quick but their is a huge gap between the 4.0 and the 5.0 but more importantly there are crap 5.0's as well and each must be treated indivually as they are all! not the same.

I drove my `95 Griffith(500) for three years as a daily driver, in all conditions , from Surrey to the Isle of Dogs and back. Only problem was the siren flooding a coupla times when the Elephant & Castle r/about , heading south , was under inches owing to downpours, ( must have been in July then)

Still drive it every day, 56k miles and still on the same tryes...................oops ,my nose just hit the keyboards.

Go on take the plunge, shame the devil, faint heart never donald ducked the pig,....... you know you want to!!!

Buy the 5L beast Chimera.

You're extremely lucky you didn't suck 5 litres of water into your cylinders like another Chimaera 500 owner managed to do in only a few inches of water.
The air intake is so low on the Chimaera that it is a real danger in even shallow standing water.

I have the 5.0 and drive it every day with no problems, rain or shine, I wouldn't settle for anything less. It doesn't leak but it does guzzle fuel, but that's a very small price to pay for arriving everywhere in a great mood with a huge smile!

I too have a 5ltr and drive it to and from work every single day, it being my only car. It has never given me any major problems, starts brilliantly every time and gets lots of admiring looks from EVERYONE who sees it - but then I am in Belgium and they seem to have never seen anything like it before - even Americans are astounded by it - Quote " What kinda car is that? - answer TVR - Is that a Jaguar?" Aren't Americans wonderful!@!

I drive my 500 to and from work everyday too; sometimes the drive to work is the only thing that motivates me to go! I bought the car to use it, not treat it like a museum piece. 10,000 miles of commuting with no real associated problems other than arriving in the office with a smile guaranteed to irritate everyone else!

One of the birds at work noticed my PistonHeads calendar the other day and asked what kind of car was on it. I said "it's a TVR". She said "oh right, is that some kind of Audi?".

I kid you not.

Where can you get said calendar from? It's not in the online shop.

Good man,

bought the 5.0 3 months ago, and made the best decision of my life (other than the divorce)

Get to know your local Petrol station well, you'll be mostly living there from now on.

Cheers
