Heated mirror controlled by timer relay ?
Discussion
Folks,
Whilst looking for a spare fuel pump relay to carry in the car, I noticed Racetech are selling a relay M0226, which is described as being for the door mirror controls but also with the timer for the heated glass.
The heated glass on my car is intermittent when it comes on and I have never known how it is activated - no switches of course. Some people said it was triggered by the fan switch etc.
Is this now established, i.e. there is a timer in this relay which automatically turns the heated mirrors on on start up for a set amount of time ?
Thanks.

This following topic includes a link to a diagram that shows that the door switch triggers the heated mirrors relay, your car may well be different

It was always my understanding the yellow courtesy light delay off relay that sits on the top right of the fuse board ran the door mirror heated glass elements too. I say this because it's the only delay relay I'm aware of on the car, and when I disconnected mine to eliminate it from my list of parasitic drain suspects I also lost my heated mirrors.
Coincidence?..... Possible, but unlikely
My car is however a late 1996 Chimaera, this means while it enjoyed most of the facelift updates of a 97-on car it still has the manual brushed ally door opening plungers on the rear quarters so no electric door button under each mirror, it also has the earlier type mirror adjusting switches in the door cards.
With Chimaera wiring you've really got to test the circuits with a multi meter as TVR changed the way they wired this model a number of times throughout its long production run, they also did a very poor job of recording these changes or indeed providing wiring diagrams full stop
My best advice would be... Check it dont guess it

Interesting thanks not seen that. Seems to show feeds from 12V ignition and door switch, so seems you need both IGN on and door open to activate the mirror (maybe?). So that wouldn't work if you got in and closed the door before turning the ignition on?https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=11...
Would be good to have a switch that triggered the relay instead.

Temperature related might make more sense, no?
You're right, it would but TVR never did things that made sense: like making it necessary to jack up and remove a front wheel to change a headlight bulb lol.But as you say, not only does a Chimaera lack a heated rear screen/switch, neither did it have 'normal' logic applied in its design!

This in 1996 was WAY a-head of it's time - Most modern cars have the access to the headlights via a hatch in the wheel arch
