At the moment, they all seem to be an adaptation of the large flange from manifolds to y-piece.
I'm assuming keeping the pipework small all the way to the turbo input would result in the turbo spinning up faster and creating less lag?

I was thinking this too. I suppose you could ceramic coat, or Inconel. But it would take away it's aesthetic appeal somewhat. Mind you, some coated headers do look quite nice.caduceus said:

Excuse my ignorance but why would there be more heat - surely the engine develops the heat not the exhaust therefore no additional heat generated?
What would happen if you put 3 radiators in a living room, instead of 1? The boiler may produce the heat.... That's one analogy.to answer a few questions, heat wise, when we were carrying out back to back dyno testing of the equal length tuned system I did about 7 years ago we found that as you are dealing with single pipes the whole system cooled down a lot quicker, the standard manifolds on the other hand took a while to cool down before you could handle them, so I think the heat would be slightly less than the standard system to be honest considering individual pipes having the heat of 1 cylinder rather than one big pipe containing all four.A turbo or supercharger will be putting a lot more heat into the exhaust system than a naturally aspirated set up.
price , well I haven't gone public yet with a price on these yet and there isn't much point until I can prove what gains are given on the dyno, if I put a price up now you`d all be asking how much bang for your buck you are getting, so you`ll have to be patient
the equal length headers I did 7 years ago(pic below) were priced at £2700 a set, ok not cheap,but gave a return of an extra 25 - 28bhp over standard, but believe me a lot of work goes into making stuff like this, for example the materials costs in stainless alone with all the flanges, pipes etc was circa £500, and if I were to charge the £50 to £70 per hour that people quite happily pay to have their tvr serviced then these would be priced in the region of £8k to £9k
I`ve had quite a few serious enquiries about this system over the years, and this is why I `ve now come up with a simpler equal length system, there are now only 2 secondary pipes instead of the original 4,2,1 layout, so simpler will mean cheaper, and I am still expecting an increase between 15 to 25bhp, we will have to wait and see.
Turbo`s, yes no problem, my direct replacement for the standard manifolds could be altered for this, the headers merge into a 3" pipe then increase to the 4" to mate with the flange to the y piece, take away the 3-4" increase and just join the 3" to the 3" pipe used on the turbo y piece using a v band clamp and flanges, I`ve made turbo y pieces for tvr Power so its not anything new to me.
