Just looking for a bit of advice, 97 400 Serpentine.

If I slacken off the belt and turn the water pump by hand it is stiff to turn and makes a creaking sound. Is it possible to renew the bearings and seals or is it best just to replace it?

What he said ^^^

One of my bolts broke off and because it goes through the oil pump housing, I had to drain the oil, drop the sump, remove the front pully, oil pump housing, exhaust y-piece, distributor and more and even then I couldn't get the stump out. Off to David Gerald in bits and a 2k bill once recommissioned to the road. Ouch.

I believe one or two of the bolts go through into the water jacket so will need sealing.

Its not worth trying to repair one even if you have the right tools.

don't buy cheap rubbish where your engine cooling is concerned, fit and forget.

Hopefully you will get your water pump bolts out ok.....I replaced mine with a stainless set as some of the originals were corroded from being exposed to cooling water. Think they are available on flea bay....just need to get the correct set for your engine as there are different front end arrangements on RV8.

This is a job for a TVR specialist, or a Land Rover one I suppose.
Then if they screw it up or shear a bolt it is their problem.......not yours.

I would get a second opinion a healthy pump should be smooth but have resistance when rotated and the groaning sound can be pointed at the mechanical seal (as will the drag/resistance) usually quite normal its when they freewheel or rotate with roughness their fked
