Easiest way of replacing diff bushes

Hi all,
My top diff bush is shot, need to replace it but do not want to remove all the bits.
Is there any way to do this with all items in place?

Yes it can be done in situ and on axle stands, I did mine 2 years ago and is easily the worst job I’ve ever done on a car lol.My top diff bush is shot, need to replace it but do not want to remove all the bits.

I got a small blowtorch and burned out the rubber, then used a hacksaw blade to cut through the bush outer casing, then some studding and sockets pulled the casing out of the chassis.
The whole job took me the best part of a day to complete, I then fitted poly bushes.
I dropped my diff to change the bushes, but then I also had taken out everything else it was connected to, on axle stands.
Lying under the car and dropping the diff onto my chest was interesting, especially as you had to twist it first. Even with everything out and the chassis dropped six inches, it still was a nightmare getting that bush out.
I have seen threads where people take them out with long extensions and various bush pullers but I think this is one job I would happily give to someone else to do next time.

take it from me the only confident way especially if replacing with original is to take it out, its not that bad just do it methodically drive shafts prop shaft top mount then front mounts as already said twist and lower i find getting the car up about 2 foot and using a good crawler is the way to go dont like doing them or gearboxes on lifts to far to drop them.

Two post lift with a gearbox support is a doddle but as John rightly mentions iffy on your own, defo a two man operation to be safe doing it that way.
I’d say it’s just easier all round to remove it. If your doing the top bush then you might as well do the two side mounts and if that’s the case you’ll probably want to re paint / powdercoat the brackets as they are likely to be rusty while your there. You can also paint your diff whilst it’s out which looks the biz when it’s all back in.

What paint did you use Alun? As you know, I have mine to fit so might as well tart it up now!
Just a simple can of Matt black exhaust paint I think! Just washed the Diff down with petrol dowsed rag first. Let me know when your doing it and I’ll try and come down for an evening, see if we can get Anthony down,, it’s seriously my turn to turn him onto some nice quality red wine.
I’d like to do it again so I remember how to, FS
