Wirring in footwell

Can anyone help? I have a continuous wirring and chattering noise in the passenger footwell when the ignition is switched on, it's the same with engine running or not. Is this likely to be something to do with the motors/servos that control the heater unit? Neither the temperature control nor air recirulcation control do much except spin 360, the other 2 controls (fan & direction)are fine. Also curiously there is no L.E.D. for the alarm just a hole, but it seems to work fine. Any suggestions for this new Griff 500 owner much appreciated.
would say a whiring noise is the heater pump, at least I think it is in the footwell. Have you tried turning all the heater controls off, which is anti clockwise on mine. Also mine are push switchs as well as rotary and pushing them down switchs the switch off. It took me a while to figure that one out.

Could be one of the "servos" that controls,heat, heat direction, fresh or recirculate. In my case it was the temp cotrol that was just spinning round through hot and cold. It was a variable resistor that tells the "controller" where it was, ie hot or cold. Cost pennies if you have a soldering iron!
And I thought you meant 'wiring' in the footwell!!
Never heard this in either of my two Griffs so cannot help - but it sounds like someone's been buggering about with the controls (knobs going right round, LED probably pushed in etc)
NB - sure it's not the fuel pump? This can be quite obvious in some cars.

PLEASE tell me where to get the variable resistors to fix this! The ones from Maplin although identical in terms of electrical specs have a smaller hole in the middle and don't fit onto the metal prong. I have an identical noise caused by the motor for the heater valve doing a constant 10rpm.
All the dealers and respected independents I asked about this told me that they would ring me back and completely failed to do so. Why is it so difficult to make a note that you have to ring someone?

Simpo one - sorry mate, didn't mean to confuse you but ever since I discovered the tarmac shagging ability of the Griff I seem to be losing a few brain cells and the old spelling is suffering a bit, (I had a grown up type this bit for me in case you were wondering). Anyway thanks all who replied the advice as ever much appreciated.

This definately the heating motor that operators the the cold to hot pump.
Mine burred like mad - very annoying. If you remove the carpet and ecu from on top of the battery you can get to the motor.
The sound was being made cos it was loose. Tighten it up and the sound will go away!!
