Gear ratios on a 500

Cruising along in the new toy today and I noticed that I was doing roughly 80 MPH @ 3000 Revs. On my other Chimaera, 3000 revs would be noticeably faster than that from memory.

Does that seem right? It seems a bit low geared to me?

Don't know? Different gear box but 80 @ 3000 revs seems like to many revs to me!

It seems like 80 (in 5th, thanks Chilli...) equals 3000 revs. Not only does the speedo match the satnav speed but the rev counter is accurate as well!

The 3.08 may be a bridge to far with your little 4l .. Ask Derek he imported one from Australia.

That may be the case with my rather fine blue car in the classifieds but I am hoping that my 5.3 V8 Developments Chianti coloured Chimaera should be able to handle it .

Thanks Peter. It seems like the T5 box has these sort of ratios, so your new car could be the same. You asked me how fast it was compared with the 400 and I said it seemed as fast in 1st or 5th! This helps explain the acceleration in 5th!
