As the title says, my drivers door mirror has come loose. I've seen plenty of topics on here about how to get it off, how the grub screw comes loose and how to fix it. But I can't seem to find how to get the actual mirror off the tripod to get better access.

I've the speaker out and cables disconnected. Pictures attached of the stage I'm at. Any help greatly appreciated!

Thanks, but I can't get access to the grub screw unfortunately. The tripod is spinning on the inner metal base, so I'm unsure where to go from here or how to get it off, the base piece seems locked solid to the door.

From inside the door speaker opening, separate the two plugs for the mirror, mirror motors and mirror heater are separate plugs. Once this is done you can use the mirror to unscrew the whole unit from the door. The plugs are too big to fit through the hole so you'll either have to cut wires or disassemble the plugs
I don't think this method will work? As mentioned, I've already got the cables disconnected but with the grub screw being loose, the tripod isn't tight on the base so can't unscrew it. Thanks for the suggestion though!

I've tried using cir clip pliers as someone else suggested on the base, going through the side of the tripod but it seems locked fast and won't budge

If the tripod is spinning on the boss screwed into the door use a parallel punch or screwdriver into the slots of the boss. Tap it around to loosen. Put a couple of layers of tape around the hole to protect the paintwork.
You can just see the slots in the picture.
I don't have much access as shown in my photo above but I'll certainly give the tapping method a try, see what I can get access with, cheers! I'll get back with how I get on.

Disaster has struck! Got everything loosened and repositioned with the grub screw, then upon tightening back onto the door, the tripod metal gave up frown

Can someone guide me in the right direction for a replacement or alternative?

Many thanks

Hens teeth is correct. I've tried using JB Weld with no luck it just cracked again. Have searched high and low with no luck finding one. Disappointing, with all this great weather and the car is left in the garage frown
