Thanks Andy and .......tonight I was back in the garage and a bit more done. As the bodyshell has now got a fixed position and the carbs have been tightened into place the clearance of the ram pipes to the scuttle has closed up and so I have been grinding and filing the scuttle and ram pipe bases to get some clearance back.
I also spent a bit of time putting temporary switches into the temporary wiring for ignition, starter and fuel pump - except that my first switch was defective......off/off!!

Anyway I have done some more as the weather is warm and the gravitational pull has been beaten by guilt at my lack of progress.....So I was looking at the accelerator pedal and how to link it to the cable with sufficient movement of the cable inner (- 7.5 cm). A length of steel rod welded to the foot pedal and a cradle welded to the pedal box structure and lo we have a working throttle pedal. I will make a box to enclose it and that will also shield it from the exhaust pipe heat.

The throttle pedal works a treat as I have fired up the "B" a couple of times now - apart from a couple of "lazy" wet plugs, it is firing nearly on 12!

Just returned from the garage and it is still firing on "nearly all" cylinders! As it is quite loud.... I feel guilty firing it up. I do have the XJ-S rear pipes and silencer boxes and so I will fabricate a "Slide - on" exhaust system....soon. However, I keep spending time on the Great Central Railway.

As it is that time of the year here is festive V12 fun!

As can be seen I have done very little..... apart from getting the engine fired up this year!

Hi Andy - sorry for delay but away on hols...and the last fire up after Christmas was very brief and still on 10. Now the weather is improving I really will have to get more done.....but I keep getting diverted spending time on the GCR with big trains and trucks.

Eeeekk!
Well I've got 6 weeks to get some more done to the BGT. I did suffer from a "Mojo Failure" at the beginning of this year, but then I had my "Frogeye Sprite NEC Saga". That is now over and I still have a bit of enthusiasm, so the BGT will be worked on again.
I would like to get the engine running and get the gearbox in action with the back end jacked up. I need to get the brakes plumbed in before I try to move the car under its own power.....I can do sensible!

A bit of garage tidying and sorting through some old bits of tube and I now have the basis of an exhaust system with silencers.

Thanks S100HP
More progress as the car is now up in the air to get the exhausts sorted. However whilst doing that, I also swapped batteries and attempted to start the engine again. Then I found the centre carbs slightly seized...got that sorted and lost the sparks, got that sorted and jammed the starter....got that sorted and finally the engine briefly coughed into life again!
Now I am having to get a bit more clearance for the rearmost carbs and trumpets.

Thanks Classicaholic. This is no way a "Show" car! It is just a project that has evolved as a bit of "garage candy" to keep me amused....
I've had a short session today and have been able to split one of the exhaust pipes. I realised that, on the donor XJ6, the silencer is at the front near the engine - hence the curved manifold pipe and I will have mine at the back. So I will need to reverse the silencer, relative to the long pipe, to get the correct flow direction (not sure if it matters, but better to keep it, sort of, as designed).
I also remembered that the section of "Y" tubing actually came from the original "Super B" in 1990.....

Another little bit of time to have a grovel under the car to try exhaust positioning.

...and "yes" I have managed to lose my other axle stand!

Thanks Turn7.....I think I am getting too old!
I have now got the silencer in a reasonable position, made clearance around the rear carbs and started to consider the last water connection to the radiator.

A nice piece of angled Aluminium tube should do the trick, except that Marton Welding have now moved and it is the weekend, so I cannot get it welded yet....

A new welding firm has been found and they have the tube, so progress is being maintained.

As I had been metal bashing to get the clearance around the back carbs, I have now been able to get the end ram pipes actually bolted in position, here is a picture to prove it....

I have been working inside the car to actually get the interior panels attached, as they have been stacked around the garage for too long!

Hi Classic, it is only the top of the fuel cell....it has an 8 gallon capacity, so should be ok for short trips!
More fixing work on the panels inside, next I will be working to fill the gaps and spaces. I have also tried the seats again and they are just too big, so if anybody wants to buy a pair of light Lotus high back seats post/PM on here. There is a picture of the seats on P 7 (6th June 2016)

I have cut up a bit of rubber tube and had a quick trial fit and it all looks good for the radiator bottom connection.

As might be suspected progress has slowed to a crawl with the cold and wet weather....however I just popped out to show some festive spirit and shine some light on the MeGa B.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.
