Out of interest what did Bob manage to squeeze out of it? He rung 184 rwhp out of mine, with std cams... (1 litre).
FergusMines an ’03 (I see yours is an ’07) in a car with a diff (losing a further 5% plus) so I’d be delighted with anything close to 184rwbhp.
On Bob’s advice, we only ‘Superbiked’ the exhaust cam, so – while missing out on ultimate power – the horses should be more usable in a racing car context.
As you’ll know, Bob’s not into boasting about output figures and the car doesn’t go on the rollers until Tuesday week, so we’ll have to see.
Luckily, the Speads is now lighter than your bike!

I would post some snaps when it finally gets off the chassis stands at the end of next week, but I’d probably get told off and I’m a good boy now.
Oh, go on then...just a peek...but don't tell or I'll get in trouble. The (twisted tip, tapering span, jolly special, very lovely, picture doesn't really do the twists and curvature justice) wing:
Like I say - and there's much more to see - 'aerodynamic steroids'.

Don't think I understand why someone posting pics of their non-radical car could ever be a problem? Would love to see pics and vids of this car it sounds very promising indeed
Dunc.
Definitely a nice looking motor from what I saw of it and of interest to most of us who frequent here in my view. I think it is fair to say that the Count takes his preparation to a high standard too so was very nicely presented, be nice to see it out this year and get a closer look.Dunc.

Looking and sounding pretty stunning, are you planning on running in just BESCR or Bikesports too this year?Bikewho…?
To be honest, even if the 750 would welcome me back, which I doubt, while the car’s 100% legal, it’s also very much ‘out there’ and would look all kinds of illegal to uneducated eyes.
By 'uneducated', I mean the scrutineers that used to give me sh*t over cars as (forgive me) everyday as a Radical, or a Global Light – and I reckon that first sight of my car in the 750’s scrutineering bay would be most likely to cause general pandemonium and, potentially, the death of several octogenarians.
But mainly, in all seriousness, if they were to exclude my car, I’d really feel obliged to protest their decision to the MSA and – dja no wot – I could do without the pain.
This is a big shame as I’d love to do a round or two with them and I’m likely to have a few of my favourite racing pals, in Bikewho, this year too.
This said, with BESCR, I do have the compensation of racing on stuff like the very awesome Brands GP circuit; supporting Superleague, Le Mans Series and Group C; presenting my car to scrutineers who know what their talking about; and...AND...I get to talk on the wireless, while I’m driving, if I want – which is...erm…awesome.
Like I say, shame though.

lighter than an R1 road bike matey !! ?? pray tell...........
I jest - but it it should be (getting on for 400kg (wet, without my 85kg (gave up smoking and put on 10 kilos) lardy a*rse)) light. Simon T said:
Jeez, you could have bought a straight one! thats what happens when you take stuff out of the mould too early Simon
That's what I told the bloke. nick997 said:
Does that mean you think our friends in Peterborough have got it wrong!
Would I dare? Acherlee, the wing, in itself, is much too efficient, producing between 50 and 75 percent more downforce than a Radical bi-plane set up when both are set at their highest downforce settings. [pauses while tea-cups are dropped and keyboards revved up].
Anyway, from a balance point of view, this is much more downforce than our cars can handle, so we can run the wing in the aerodynamic shadow of the car (in largely turbulent air – which is partly why the wing has all the twists and variations) dial the flap right back to balance the downforce, and still get significantly more downforce along with a 15 to 20 percent reduction in drag.
But the real trick stuff is the design and placement of the wing in relation to the underfloor.
On the Speads, we now have ‘proper’ rear tunnel diffusers (like ground effect stuff) and the very low pressure area that the wing produces on its underside area sucks on the tunnels and underfloor like gangbusters, producing hundreds of kilos of additional underfloor downforce, with a centre of pressure just under the roll hoop, for very little drag penalty.
That’s the idea, anyway.
In case you are (or anyone is) interested, here are some CFD shots (red is high pressure and blue is low pressure):
And a shot of the (Mk I) front splitter/diffuser, in case anyone thinks we gone all girly on the downforce at the front.
Just need to get the b*stard thing to b*stard start now. B*stard.

?? I thought it was running and on its way for a map?
are the points sticking?
On the rolling road, we forced the issue to get things going, but can't start by normal means.are the points sticking?
The R1 ECU is particularly voltage sensitive and we think we've got an impedance in the starter motor solonoid which is pulling the whole system down. The new item is being fitted, on Tuesday, along with a replacement infra-red receiver and(weird failure)rain light.
Failing that, we'll try changing the condensor, and checking the rotor arm, JP.
