E Pace v German Rivals

I ve had what is supposed to be the absolute worst do not touch with a barge pole 150 2wd r-dynamic e-pace, and its been great. nice to drive on a long trip, great handling, front end grip even in the 2wd is great, and on a 70ish motorway run it can hit 60 mpg... It s no rocket ship off the line, but mid range is good. half the issue with it being slow imho is that it feels a lot slower than it is.. 80 on the motorway fels like about 50. its got good mid range so a good point to point car. 20kmiles and no problems....DPF issues seem to be people that chug around doing 2 miles at a time around town. which just about every modern diesel struggles with. Its not a light car, and the comparison with the f-pace isnt fair as the f-pace is very light for its class. I looked at the xc40 but he jag was soo much nicer to drive.

We've got an epace 2.0 180. Is it the nicest engine ever? No. It is a 2.0 turbo diesel, fine for the car though. It is a nice place to spend a day, quick enough, handles well enough. When we were looking (18 months ago) it was the best option at the price. I would have rather stretched a bit and gone volvo though.
We also have an ftype v8r which is a more exciting proposition, can't get the dogs in though.

Well it's rather different from an E-Pace!However they stopped making them in 2014, so if you like new metal that may bother you. At present Jaguar have no 'grand tourer' 2+2 in their range, and the so the line XJS > XK8 > XK is extinct. If you're after horsepower I think the 5.0 XKR has 520bhp, more than a V12 Aston.

Standard 5.0 XKR is 503bhp. The XKR75 limited edition was 520bhp. Then the R-S was 542.However they stopped making them in 2014, so if you like new metal that may bother you. XKR lovely, feel dated inside though.Ftype more lovely, much more modern interior (still behind the Germans though) and more loutish. It is the sensible option following TVR ownership.

Actually the F-type R is 542 bhp; the SVR and XJR 575 are both 567 bhp (575 PS in dodgy foreign measurements).575 is the f-type R and the XJR575.
Manufacturer's figures which are a) understated if one believes calculations from dynamometer testing, and b) the apparent differences of these engines in various installations are accounted for by easily amended software, so for a few quid, you can have almost any numbers which take your fancy.
