Yes I've had a look and I can see getting the compressor out will be awful.

One side of the window seems to have bonded ok but the other really hasn't and has continued to leak. I think it might have been too cold for the JB Weld to cure properly perhaps, but it was very easy to pull it all apart again.

I'm going to try the windscreen bonding stuff I bought in the first place, after I clean it all up with a wire brush and some IPA, but I'm getting very close to saying "bugger this" and getting a new roof. I've had a quote of £2,250 with mobile fitting at home from these guys

https://hoodtech.co.uk/jaguar/p/jaguarexkr

It's a 13 year old car and the hood is a bit tired looking so it's not a ridiculous idea.

ETA ok so I had another go with this mastertech 1hr stuff. The problem on my roof is as the fabric has shrunk over time it has pulled away from the glass, you can clearly see a good few MM or this black edging to the glass that is meant to be under the fabric and glued to it. This doesn't leave much of an overlap area between glass and roof to glue.

This black stuff is messy, but it's dried really quickly and appears to have made a nice goopy silicone-esque bond between them, it looks like it'll be waterproof too. Given how little area is actually bonded a few roof cycles might well pop it out but we shall see.

I've concluded it's beyond bodging.

For anyone stumbling on this, I had prices of £2250 with mobile fitting from Hoodtech, £1700 including fitting from Carhood Warehouse in Sevenoaks, and £1770 from BAS international in Cwmbran who appear to be the supplier for many of the other fitters.

BAS are just up the road from me so it's booked in (for 1st/2nd February though!!)

Looking around it seems to be one of the most expensive convertible tops to replace.
