To my knowledge that was the first ever superchraged Jag - I don't think they'd ever used any form of forced indcution prior to that, and I think they still steer clear of turbochargers.

Jag tuning company Chasseur (do they still exist?) used to do a twin turbo conversion for the XJ40, called the Stealth IIRC! A fairly rapid piece of kit, apparently. I can remember Chasseur doing conversions for the early X300 series as well.

1. The original (1989-90) XJR has modified engine, suspension, gearbox and diff, among other things. There were only about 200 made, though the prior TWR's are very similar and have a lot of interior and body parts in common. The wheels are TWR.
2. Chasseur morphed into paramount performance, although the people that worked on the original Chasseurs are still around. Almost no-one now would do a bi-turbo on an XJ40, except as a one-off - very expensive, and transferring one from a converted donor would be trial only for the initiated. Bear in mind both kinds of turbo do add noise - quite a bit, so you give up a bit of that Jag luxury...
3. Paramount have worked on all the recent Jags incl the X308. Currently they do their hottest stuff on the XKR... www.paramount-performance.com. Enjoy drooling over their stuff...

I thought XJRs had one supercharger and twin intercoolers or is yours a special, Drifty??

Interesting we now have an S type diesel Turbo ( Twin ) which appears to work very well. All torque.

I am sure we will see a bigger diesel in the XJ before too long and I am sure it will be very good indeed. The futures black.

The Peugeot-Ford 2.7 V6 diesel is coming for the Jags, it was already shown in the R-D6 prototype last year. The XK 180 concept also had supercharging. As far as I was aware, the XJ220 unit was Ford Cosworth & not MG 6R4 derived. It was twin turboed though...
