I know their diggers are known very well all over Europe but have they been that successful / demonstrated extraordinary prowess in managing?

I'd like to see Jaguar back in British hands, JCB could be the answer, though I doubt Ford would sell it to them.

JCB would be a total disaster. Jaguar has more in common with a relatively upscale electronics manufacturer (eg Bose) than JCB. JCB are not big enough and have no experience.

GAZ have already said they want commercial vehicles and cars at the utilitarian level. Jag is thus a no-no.

One Equity is probably a good option in that they will find professionals that have experience to run the business, and being a bank will be able to find money.

From what I've read about JCB they do not necessarily have to be a disaster. They understand many important processes very well and the plain fact that they haven't produced cars before doesn't mean they are totally unqualified to do so. They may in fact take some much more innovative and fresh approaches to the problems than classical car guys would.

Looks like Ford are selling Aston Martin. I don't know what impact that will have on their decision whether or not to sell Jaguar.

If they're selling Jaguar they'd be silly not to sell it as a package with LandRover, simply because of how entwined they've become.

The AM thing is, IMHO, a stalking horse for the Jag sale, or at the very least an alternative proposal if no-one wants Jag. Doubt they'd sell both.

One Equity is not a Bank but a Private Equity Fund popularly known as asset strippers or (in Germany) as locusts. They have nothing to recommend as potential buyers of Jaguar. I would prefer JCB - a very successful company & British.

Perhaps Ford has arrived at a stage where the crown jewels need to be sold just to ensure survival, without regard to past sunk costs or future implications

AM could have a buyer right in, Bez being touted to be interested in purchasing it, were it for sale. I guess LR could find a buyer easily (if it was on its own) but who would buy Volvo? Renault?

Renault/Nissan buying Volvo cars would seem justice to the French whose Renault Truck division was bought by Volvo Truck a few years ago.

Aston Martin potentially has a greater sales value as a rich man's plaything than it will generate in profits for Ford if they keep hold of it.

Aston is a bit of a problem since Ford supposedly wants much more than it's worth. Typical
