Love it, more photos please. Just out of interest, which gearbox is it?
Thanks. I will get around to more photos of the XJ-S, in more interesting places, shortly. The gearbox is a Getrag 260 from a 3.6 XJ-S. I spoke to the guy who undertook the conversion at the weekend. Jamie had owned it for about 12 years, clearly looked after it, did loads to it and loved the car. Great to be able to get the 'inside' story on these classic cars. Loads of work done to it. great bodywork condition, just a few bits of fettling and to add rear seat belts (it is 1983) so I can ferry the kids around in it. Took it out today and really enjoyed it. Parked it in a Sainsbury's car park - it rather stood out amongst the sea of grey, black and white (my every day car is grey, so I am also guilty on that score).Leatherseat said:

As for 80 mph; the engine is doing around 2,800rpm. Coupe with a 6.0 V12 sounds fantastic. Reports (eg from Simply Performance and others) suggest mpg is significantly improved, but I have no first hand experience on that, yet. Great fun to drive, though - far more involving than an automatic.
Best,
David
PS -My XJS Has a 3.54 power lock differential. Yours may well have a lower geared diff.

im surprised its revving that high in fifth at that speed. I was hoping for more around 2000rpm. At that level I cant see how the fuel consumption on a long run would be significantly improved. I will wait to see your conclusions from a couple of tanks if you would be kind enough to let me know. Best,
David
A lot of the torque of the v12 is above 3000rpm so a manual should make it significantly faster. How heavy is the clutch vs something more mundane? where are you based?
My car is being restored and modified at the moment, there is a thread on it in readers cars.

I have a 3.54 power lock diff, which is god for acceleration, but helps explain the 2,800 rpm at 80mph (2,000 rpm at 60, 2,400 at 70mh). The clutch is very light - I endured stop start traffic up the A1 after collecting the car, last Friday and the clutch was very easy to use in those conditions. Based in Leicestershire - you are welcome to come and have a closer inspection and a chat, if you are ever in the area. Love the look of your Coupe-that is going to be very special.A lot of the torque of the v12 is above 3000rpm so a manual should make it significantly faster. Cheers. I need to have a look and see what the diff is on mine. I will take you up on that offer, my parents live in Coventry so next time I visit I'll let you know, give you plenty of warning, that would be great! ![beer](/inc/images/beer.gif)

Got this last week: XJ R-Sport SWB, Metallic White. Absolutely love it, turns heads wherever it goes but a real pain to park due to how long it is! Only 300 miles on it so but some fairly long trips coming up which I'm really looking forward to.

They are an amazing car to drive. Very nimble for their size.
"Green" does not seem to have been a popular choice for modern Jaguars. For example, I've had my XF Emerald Fire for over two years and only ever seen two others.
As far as the latest XKs are concerned, I've only ever seen emerald fire, never "racing green".
Doesn't help that Jaguar have a fancy name for similar greens. My last three Jaguars have all be green: An S-Type officially coloured Emerald, another S-Type coloured British Racing Green, and the XF coloured Emerald Fire.
