Anyone jumped straight from a 20 year old XJ into a facelifted XF?

I'd hire one for a long weekend before I decide to go for it but any real world long term driving and ownership experiences to add to the reviews? Anyone know what the best ride quality / sound system spec is?

Choice would be low miles, auto, petrol and not AWD. Budget open.
I have an R-Sport on 20" wheel so probably the worst combination, however I think it rides great. I also have the 825W Meridian Surround which is lovely and well worth the extra.

I’m changing my car, looking for delivery in March. Yesterday I had a test drive in an Alfa Giula Quadrifoglio, I’ve also booked to try a BMW 340. Thought I’d also take a look at a Jaguar XE P300. Trouble is none of the local dealers have one as a demonstrator. They’re all saying come and try the lower powered version but that isn’t really going to do it for me.

Shame but I’m not buying without trying one.

Bloody annoying isn’t it. I’ve heard horror stories about Alfa dealers that are worse than Jag dealers too.

ETA: there’s 9 for sale on approved used. Any close to you?

That's a bit of a shame. I know car ranges are huge these days and having a demo car for every model can be logistically and financially difficult. But I agree, I'd want to try before buying too.

Have any of them got a used one you could maybe try?

If I was considering spending that sort of money I'd bypass the dealer all together and see if I could rent whatever it is for a few days first to see what's its really like and if it's worth the expense.

Impossible to do that in a showroom with some tt in a cheap suit following you around trying to flog you what he's got rather than what you actually want.

I can’t find the 9 cars on the Jaguar website, all I can see are P250’s?

I live in East Anglia on the Essex/Suffolk border.

If you are serious about a P300, then call Jaguar Customer Services and get one delivered to your door for you to try. May have to go via a dealer, but they can get you anything..

Compared to a 20 year old XJ proper Jag you'll be shocked at the ride quality and interior noise.

Agree. They’re much much better on the XF.

I'm getting my X300 back onto the road, when I got to drive her home I was surprised about the ride, back home and checked the tyre pressures, they were all over the place, but all much too high.
Brought them back to the comfort 27PSI setting and cloud9 Blissful magic carpet ride returns cloud9
