I was all happy on my way home for the weekend and got a call from the Dealer, who said that seeing as my XKR was a december build I wouldnt be able to have the spec I ordered. I had to have a load of unnecessary extras, costing me and extra £5k to boot!

I had heard rumours before, but thought i'd got away with it. It seems that to get the 19" carelia's that I really want, I'll have to buy the more expensive Cremona's and then also buy some Carelia's from the dealer at full cost and try and flog the cremonas on ebay or something.

Why do they pre-specify the early spec's? My thoughts was that they wanted the first cars on the road to look a bit special, ie biggest wheels and poshest interior/sound. But why on earth did the active lights get on the spec? They arent apparent from just looking at a parked car are they?

Any of you Jag dealers got peed-off customers too?

I am tempted to take a January build, but that probably means feb delivery, which then pushes the question of whether i should wait till march for the 07 plate, and so on. I'm just getting too eager to get the car.

Doesnt look like there's any way of getting round it as the jag bulletin J1138 says "no exceptions made" and "There will be no appeal process for this build. If you are unable to place these cars with customers, please contact your Regional Manager who will be able to reallocate them to alternative dealers."

If I get the car before Xmas, then I would be swayed, but I'm not sure any assurances given by the dealer will be worth anything, as delays often happen.

The bulletin given to dealers was dated 15 September, so maybe it wasnt confirmed for December build cars until then, and i suppose the dealer was trying to delay putting off customers for as long as possible.

No, unfortunately I decided to take the compulsory options in return for getting my car before xmas. But i'm growing used to the idea now.

I did receive one of those 'personalising' brochures, and saw the grilles. I havent seen the XKR in the flesh, neither have i seen the optional extra grilles so cant comment on which i'd prefer. Hence i havent bought them. I imagin that they will be easily aftermarketable.

Edited to add that I thought that those grilles were to enable the XK owners to have the XKR style nose?

Sorry, the spec is as follows:

XKR Coupe
Midnight Black
Ivory Interior
Warm Charcoal Dash
Aluminium (knurled, not weaved) Trim
20" Cremona Alloys
Luxury Leather upgrade
Premium sound upgrade
Parking sensors (if not standard)
Active headlight thingy

Think thats it.

silverspeed whats your spec? Is it still scheduled for 23Nov?

Cool. I still want Carelia's but the Senta's are growing on me. I havent got a date yet, but I cant understand why they said 22Dec, when I'm first in the queue and others seem to have their cars ready for 23Nov. Hopefully the Cremona's will still be in supply problems late in December! I might have to go and let the tyres down on some delivery trucks!

You got it yet then? Did Jag live up to the official(?) 23Nov promise?
