Blown Turbos

My S type was 1 yr old last week, to coincide with the anniversary of its delivery, it requested a return to the dealer with restricted performance. I wont go into the appaling events masterminded by Jaguar Assist and their agents but hope I never have the missfortune to break down abroad. It now transpires that both Turbo's need replacing, this is being done under warranty. Does anyone know of issues with the 2.7 oil burner?

Thanks Phil, mine is one of the first euro1v compliant cars so that fits.I have done about 22000 Miles. The Jaguar Assist technician reset the fault codes and said it was an engine breather problem, he asked me to fax his report to the dealer and they would order a part, the car was perfectly safe and ok to drive long distances even if Restricted Performance reappeared. The dealer disagreed and wanted the car off the road immidiatly. The process of obtaining a replacement vehicle was unbeleavable, I wont comment further as the issues are now being investigated by the quality standard team. It is a great car and even if there is a prooblem that would have been ok if it had been dealt with quickly and without the three days of hassel I had to endure. I'm looking forward to getting it back at the end of the week with luck.

Yehey got the car back this afternoon, so quiet and refind not to mention quick after a week with a Freeloader.

A further modification was done to the breather tube at the same time
I am led to believe.

When the car had its 1st service at around 15k miles in July, the service counter would not reset and the dealer had to take it back and hit it with a hammer or something similar. Last week, just after it came back with new turbo's, it started demanding a service, it was not counting down but saying "service". Having only done 5k since the last service, I spoke to the dealer who said it may be the result of disconecting the battery but, considering the previous problem it could be a faulty module. We decided not to change it or reset it but to wait till about 30k and its next service. Have you heard of anything similar?

Ahhh this is a fun one. Jaguar put service indicators into a limited run of vehicles (S-TYPE & XJ). HOWEVER, they never actually implemented them properly and consequently aren't of any use. I don't think they do anything as such. I'd suggest you take it in and get them to run the WDS machine on it to clear out the fault code. The module shouldn't be faulty as it never actually worked in the first place if i recall. [/quote]

It seemed to work originaly as it started advising that a service would be due in 1500 miles from about 13700 and then counted down, it was after the service that they had a problem resetting it, and now following the turbo replacement it is saying "service due"
