They're all good cars. Buy one. They are British.
They will keep UK folks in jobs ...

On the other hand, I'm no style expert, but on
the basis of a whole day with an X-type and another
day with a S-type, I'd say both of them had interiors
which seem to have been designed by Mr S. Wonder
of 1960s music fame. In my opinion.

Engines good, suspensions very good, boot space
a bit limited (why no hatchback for more space?),
gearbox good, road holding good but oh dear
those interiors. Exterior styling I can just
about live with.

At least both the X-type and the S-type have
better fuel consumption than the XJ8, possibly due to
a smaller number of cylinders.

Has anyone found the X-type or S-type to their taste ?

I'm happy with the science in the Jaguar
cars, it's just some of the non-science (ie
aeshetic) that causes me eye pain.

Your mileage may vary, but I've just had a 40K
service on my XJ8. It was cheaper than some services
I've had on an MX5.

My advice to you is that if you want an XJ8, go
get one, and keep UK workers in work. BMWs, while
good cars, tend to be driven by apprentice Volvo
drivers and mainstream middle managers.

Fantastic, isn't it ? XKR for Ford Mondeo money.

I expect servicing bills to go up as
the car gets older, but less than 400 quid at 40K
miles is a result in my book.

There's probably a cambelt change at 60K or so
that wil be expensive, but I'm not worrying
about that yet.

If I were allowed to use all the performance
on an XKR (ie top speed) I'd have one tomorrow ;->
