VW Touareg Lease Deal
Discussion
Ours is for my wife, I have just got the 840i delivered from the lease deal that was around in Jan.
Our Touareg is a standard black edition in white (wanted Grey really) with the 286 bhp diesel engine due early September. Couple of things I am trying to find out are if the Sat Nav has google maps - some pics online suggest it does - and if the coloured ambient lighting can is already installed but just not activated. I suspect that is the case as the Arteon can be coded with VDCS to switch the colours on even if you dont spec the option.
Never had an SUV before so even in am excited for delivery.

Sandwiched between land rovers we had 2006 a MK1 3.0tdi for over 4 years and loved it. Proper 4x4 looks and really nice to drive. When this MK3 came on the scene I wasn't too sure about the grill and it just looked like everything else (Q7, Cayenne etc - OK I know that's because it is) however over time and hours on YouTube I think its great.
It was a toss up between this and a 2-3 year old RRS but we've just ordered one for the end of Sept delivery. 286 Black Edition Deal + Met Grey.
How is the ride on the massive 21" wheels?
Curious about the ride quality as well. We wanted grey rather than white - well not strictly true, I wanted grey the wife wanted white and its her car plus the money saved I am fine with it. Black edition type cars do tend to look good in white anyway (as opposed to white with chrome trim). I still dont know yet if the multicolored interior lights for the ambient lighting are fitted as standard and just not 'activated' so as soon as i know I will share.
Was originally planning on taking the car end of Sept but am now looking to take it as soon as it arrives at the dealership.

Had ours a few days now and love it.
With the maps I think it’s VW own, although they have apple car play and android play too. Wireless charging etc too.
This is a good video for the infotainment https://youtu.be/EjWZSNWYRBY
How are you getting on with the Touareg mate? With the maps I think it’s VW own, although they have apple car play and android play too. Wireless charging etc too.

Hi All, Just returned to this thread and didnt expect to see lots of chatter - the thread didnt get any traction to start so I had abandoned it for the most part. Made up to see more people leaving comments :-)
In terms of Google Maps it wasnt active when the car arrived so it there was a setting or two to get it working. If anyone needs help I can try and advise. Regards VDCS, there doesnt appear to be the option to turn the lighting different colours. The one part I am gutted about is not having the optional ambient lighting but my car was a pre-order so I couldnt change the spec.
What I am aware of is that via VDCS you can activate the Dynaudio sound profile thus making the stereo sound much better. I am researching more about this at the moment.
The car is my wifes as I got one of the 840i cheap leases earlier in the year but we use it as the main weekend car. Overall I love it but here is my two-pence worth;

- Looks. I think its one of the best looking SUVs out there especially in Black Edition spec. There is something very 'tonka truck' about it and it looks mean from the front with the lights on especially.
- Spec (Black Edition) - bar a fancy stereo and the ambient lighting there isnt anything missing
- Engine - smooth and refined for a diesel and very gutsy. I was and am still surprised at how quick it can move
- Performance - exceeded my expectations
- MPG - very reasonable. Getting over 30mpg around town and seen 45mpg on the motorway. Neither my wife or I are lightfooted
- Comfort - The ride comfort for something this big and heavy on 21" wheels is outstanding
- Space - tons of it
Gripes
- Ambient lighting not standard on this top spec model
- Some lower quality scratchy plastics especially on the lower half of the interior
- Basic switchgear - some of the switches are very square and cheap like the memory seats on the driver door. However, acknowledge this is how VW and Audi for example differentiate themselves
- Odd occasion the gearbox can be lazy but this is a very minor issue for me. Wifes previous Audi A6 40tdi was horrendous for gearbox lag and laziness
- Everything operated from touchscreen. You get used to it but i like actual switches for things like climate control
- Seats - a little too firm but they are getting better the more they are used
Anybody has any questions give me a shout. I have to say I really like this car - never had an SUV before but the visibility, comfort, space and gusto make a great combo and I love driving it.
Not really planning any mods - might wrap the front lip that is for some reason chrome even on the black edition. Tempted to have the calipers done red but my wife wont care so might not bother.

Will there be an issue with that at the end of the lease, as the car is no longer standard?Several leases I had were stock cars (not a factory order) and never had privacy glass so I had the windows tinted. Never an issue when returned.
My cheap S5 lease had auto hold retrofitted and the calipers sprayed a different colour and the windows tinted when returned. Not issues.
Not saying everyone should do this but I have never had an issue.

I am taking one for a test drive tomorrow and looking forward to it... I'm interesting to see if the gearbox is an issue, like its made out to be in many of the reviews.
It's not as bad as people make out. It isn't perfect by any means, and holds the first 2 gears a little to long but overall its absolutely fine for this kind of vehicle. The worst I have experienced is in an A6 50tdi. The lag and responsiveness was woeful. N11XNP said:
I just want to put this out there.
I have just come out of a 24 month Touareg Lease and jumped into an XC90 R design… I am full of nothing but regrets that I didn’t get another Touareg
Sorry to hear that mate - what's the notable downsides of the XC90 that you are not liking? I have just come out of a 24 month Touareg Lease and jumped into an XC90 R design… I am full of nothing but regrets that I didn’t get another Touareg

Anyone know if the latest build Touaregs still come standard with adaptive lane guidance. I currently have a 2019 SEL and the option is there under the lane assist settings. I cant find any info about whether this is still the case or whether they have made it part of the driver assistance package. Thinking of ordering a black edition to replace our current one. If anyone with a black edition base spec could check under the driver assistance settings it would be most appreciated. TIA.
You mean the setting that tries to keep you in lane? Yes it does have that. I coded it off early on so dont know much more im afraid! Gassing Station | Audi, Seat, Skoda & VW | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
