My brother has just sent me some pictures. Feel a bit queasy. Just doesn't look right to me.

Because he's used a wide-angle lens at close range. Get some more representative photos.

But have you seen the price tag yet....?

At present, limited stock plus shortage of factory supply mean these are typically being held at RRP.....nudging £40k, with those few 'optioned' cars well into the "Big Tax" price region.....

Oh joy, another VW bashing thread.

Mods, can we at least get this moved to the VAG forum?

Not really. I've had loads of VW's and like them. Just not this one.

I feel as though the mk7.5 was the best golf yet, this one seems to be a bit too try hard imo.

I think it's what Ground Effect says - camera angle. The rear looks like a T-Roc R from that angle.

The wheels are marmite but there are plenty of factory and aftermarket options. Should be a great car, I've got a late Mk7.5R and it's been ace so far. They still have a variety of issues common to the earlier models once the mileage racks up but there are so many tuners and specialists familiar with the cars it's all easy to sort.

They seem to be selling well, lots of new owners on the Facebook Golf R group.

So what are the figures on these? Don’t think I’ve seen a PH review.

Hard to see how the automatic four pot turbo powered 40k hot hatch market still exists with the Tesla Model 3 on the market.

Have to agree with earlier sentiment that the 7.5 was just about right design wise - I haven't liked any of the mk8 variants to be honest - R and Clubsport included.

Ever since someone pointed out to me that the sloping inwards headlight line reminds them of the Muppets character with the one giant monobrow I can't unsee it!! tongue out
