Audi TT 3.2 Purchase, but the EML light has just come on!
Discussion
Hi all,
Just wanted the thoughts of the forum. I've just sold the wifes A2 and am now allowed to get me a sports car. The TT 3.2 i've been looking at, i've just been informed by the dealer that the EML light has come on. He's sent me the audi repot saying "Camshaft and Crankshaft sensor incorrect" i don't know too much about what this means, but i'm now unsure on if i should get the car or not. He won't do a warranty as its a trade sale?? But its a lot less than the private ones advertised, you can see it here if you want - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&am...
Any info or advise is VERY welcome, thanks,
Iain

Run away very very quickly. That fault code means the timing chains have either stretched or the tensioners have failed/ begining to fail. Is a mega job well over £1000, dont get it. Get another one.
I cant stress this enough thats a very expensive fault. DO NOT believe any one who says it just need a cam or crank sensor and there only about £40.

Cheers all, thats what my thoughts were. I seem to be faited with cars at the moment, missed an A3, just sold the wifes A2 so now without a car, and the one i was looking at now reports the EML light...the other car a nissan 350z which i was looking at, again i just find out had some water damage and is listed on VCar (never heard of that until yesterday) so whats the general thougth on a water dameged 350Z, passed the MOT and Service fine, but is registered on VCar??? Run away again??

Run away? I would.. Without wishing to be rude, I think you need to re-appraise either your budget or expectations..

When a private purchases buys anything from the trade. It by law can't be a trade sale regardless of what the dealer writes on his invoice.Just wanted the thoughts of the forum. Buy the car at his "trade" price and then demand he fixes it.
Cool, right, might take a trip up to see him, have a look at the car, make an offer then spring that on him...check his reaction, then who knows! Thanks for the info...
Its not my time to be buying a car! Just been called by the chaps wife who was buying the A2 to be told they can't get all the money together...grrrrrrr

He will just claim its 'sold as seen' and that you were aware of the fault when you bought it, and he is within his rights to do so.
I'd walk right away from that one, its cheap for a reason.
NO such thing as "sold as seen" when the person selling is in the Trade and the buyer is not.I'd walk right away from that one, its cheap for a reason.
To get around this, all faults must be listed on the invoice and buyer has to sign.
Well going off the ad about 8.5? So you want a coupe, have a look at the 350z and BMW 330ci they both offer good value.
